Manchester, England (My Sportsbook) - England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could be nearing full health after completing his first session of ball work on Friday. The striker, who is recovering from a fractured foot, is now expected to train with the England squad just a week before the start of the World Cup. "I've always been confident he would take part in the World Cup," England coach Sven Goran Eriksson said at a Friday morning press conference. Eriksson's squad will make the trip to Germany on Monday. Rooney is expected to join the team for the trip and will then return to Manchester, England for a June 7th scan on his foot. Should Rooney be unable to play, Eriksson is expected to call up Tottenham's Jermain Defoe. Defoe will travel with the England squad on Monday to Germany. Prior to the trip, England faces Jamaica at Old Trafford in an international friendly match.
