Charlotte, NC (My Sportsbook) - Carolina Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan is expected to miss Sunday's game against Atlanta because of a groin injury he sustained last week against Dallas. Tight end Wesley Walls is listed as doubtful because of a nagging finger injury and a knee problem.

"They think it will at least take through this week to get that thing healthy," said Panthers head coach John Fox about Morgan's injury.

Morgan has 44 tackles, two interceptions and one sack in six games this season.

As for Walls, "He has been struggling with the finger," Fox said. "He has had some knee problems. We have been trying to rest him. He hasn't practiced on a Wednesday for some time now. I think he is still day-to-day and we listed him as doubtful."

Walls has played the past couple of weeks despite the injuries, but last Sunday he did not catch a pass in the 14-13 loss to Dallas.

The Panthers, who have lost three straight games after a 3-0 start, will also have Chris Weinke at quarterback for Sunday's game as Rodney Peete recovers from knee surgery.

Fox said Weinke, last year's starting quarterback who lost his job this pre- season to Peete, looked good in practice on Wednesday.

"He has prepared hard," Fox said. "I have been impressed with the way Chris has handled himself the whole season and I was impressed with the way he practiced today."

Fox also said he won't sign another quarterback, as Randy Fasani will back up Weinke and running back Dee Brown will be the emergency quarterback.

"Dee actually had a good day," Fox said. "He brings another dimension. He is our version of Michael Vick. I thought he looked good. That was the first time I have watched him throw the ball, and I was impressed."

The Panthers have also listed wide receivers Isaac Byrd and Steve Smith as questionable for Sunday's game. Byrd has a stomach ailment and didn't practice Wednesday, while Smith, who injured ribs last week, practiced Wednesday.

"He is sore but he practiced today and he is fighting through it," said Fox about Smith. "He is a tough, young man, and I think he will be ready to go Sunday."
