Davie, FL (My Sportsbook) - The
Miami Dolphins will already be without quarterback Jay Fiedler on Sunday against AFC East rival Buffalo because of a broken thumb and could also be missing wide receivers Chris Chambers and Oronde Gadsden.
Chambers is listed as questionable because of a concussion he sustained in last week's game against Denver, while Gadsden is also questionable with a wrist injury he suffered in last week's game.
"We're still optimistic [both will play]," said Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt after Wednesday's practice.
Chambers was hurt after absorbing a hit to the head by Denver safety Kenoy Kennedy late in the first half. Chambers leaped high in the air for a pass from Fiedler and Kennedy charged in helmet-first to jar the ball loose. Chambers laid motionless for several seconds after having his neck snapped back and was helped off the field by the Miami trainers.
Kennedy was flagged for a personal foul and was suspended by the NFL for the helmet-to-helmet hit.
"Chris came out, ran today, caught some routes and felt pretty good," said Wannstedt. "He'll be tested and evaluated tomorrow and we're optimistic that he'll turn the corner."
Gadsden, meanwhile, hurt his wrist in the first half of last week's game, but remained in the contest. He sustained a sprained left wrist, an injury that could be more long-term than Chambers' concussion.
"We know that Oronde was getting a second opinion today," Wannstedt said. "Hopefully he'll come back with some good news."
If neither can play, James McKnight and Dedric Ward would start with Robert Baker as the third receiver.
Ray Lucas ran the first-team offense Wednesday with Fiedler sidelined because of the thumb injury.
"Ray doesn't have anything to prove," Wannstedt said. "He doesn't have to prove anything to the players, coaches or anyone in this locker room. We know that Ray can play. Ray will be fine and it's just a matter of getting him enough work to get ready."
