Greensboro, NC (My Sportsbook) - Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis announced that they are forming S&L Racing to compete in this year's Craftsman Truck Series. Eventually they hope to work their way up to NASCAR's premier division - Nextel Cup. S&L Racing hopes to develop a winning race team that provides opportunities for minorities and women in the sport. "Both Ray and I are racing fans," said Sayers. "Also, we both have the same goals and desire to succeed, to win and to help others. With S&L Racing, we will be able to give people a chance to show what they can do at the highest level of sports." S&L Racing would be the fourth team to have current or former NFL ties. Washington Redskin's coach Joe Gibbs has already won three Nextel Cup championship with drivers Bobby Labonte (2000) and Tony Stewart (2002, 2005). Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw is a part-owner of FitsBradshaw Racing that has competed in the NASCAR Busch Series for five years. Competing for the first time this season in the Nextel Cup Series is Hall of Fame Racing with owners Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.
