Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cincinnati Bengals Saturday declined to match the offer made by the Houston Texans for restricted free agent wide receiver Kevin Walter. "Kevin has been a fine player for us, and he deserves the opportunity he'll get in Houston to be a starting receiver," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "But as we build our roster for the upcoming season, we believe it's in the best interest of our team to allocate these funds to another position." The Bengals had tendered Walter an offer at draft status level, meaning Houston will have to surrender their seventh-round draft choice in next month's NFL Draft as compensation for signing the fourth-year receiver. Walter was originally a seventh-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 2003. In 43 career games, all with Cincinnati, he has amassed 30 receptions for 296 yards and a touchdown.
