East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Two time defending champion mare Loyal Opposition swept past the leaders on her way to a win in a $50,000 Free For All pace at The Meadowlands on Friday. Loyal Opposition, driven by Andy Miller, raced through the early portion of the race in fourth place. Toy Dragon set the pace followed closely by Pacific Illusion and Artbitration. On the turn for home Artbitration and Loyal Opposition moved past the leaders from the outside. Loyal Opposition gained control in mid-stretch and went on to a 1 1/2 length victory over Burning Point. Easton Alliance N finished third followed by Four Starzzzz Ittt, Restive Hanover, Artbitration, Pacific Illusion, Toy Dragon and Young's Tower. Loyal Opposition paced the mile in 1 minute, 51 2/5 seconds. Loyal Opposition was part of a three horse entry from trainer Erv Miller which included Restive Hanover and Young's Tower. The six-year-old mare has been voted the last two years the champion older female pacer and was the 2002 champion two-year-old filly pacer. Owned by Daniel Waxman, Loyal Opposition has won 46 of 76 career starts for more than $2.5 million. She was coming off a second place finish to Restive Hanover in the Cape & Cutter Final. Loyal Opposition returned $2.20 and $2.10, and Burning Point paid $2.10 for place. There was no show wagering.
