Dayton, OH (My Sportsbook) - Wright State fired men's head basketball coach Paul Biancardi on Monday because of his involvement in Ohio State's infractions report that was released by the NCAA on Friday.

Biancardi was an assistant under Jim O'Brien for 13 years and was with him while at Ohio State in 1999 when the NCAA uncovered that the two were involved in giving an athlete improper gifts.

On Friday, Ohio State was placed on three years' probation by the NCAA. The university will have to repay all tournament revenues for the four years in which Boban Savovic played and take down its 1999 Final Four banner.

The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions penalized O'Brien and Biancardi for a booster giving improper gifts, including housing and cash, to Savovic. The penalty for Biancardi prohibited him from recruiting until October 1, 2007.

"As a result of The Ohio State University Public Infractions Report by the NCAA, Wright State University believes it is in everyone's best interest for the coach to move on to other opportunities," a joint statement from Wright State and Biancardi said.

Wright State went 13-15 this past season, posting an 8-8 mark in Horizon League play. In three years under Biancardi, the Raiders posted an overall mark of 42-44 and a Horizon League record of 26-22. Biancardi was the 2004 Horizon League Coach of the Year in his first season at the school when his squad went 14-14 overall and 10-6 in conference.
