Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Oakland Athletics avoided salary arbitration with left-handed pitcher Joe Kennedy, signing him to a one-year contract for the 2006 season. Kennedy was acquired from the Colorado Rockies at the All-Star break last season and was 4-5 with a 4.45 ERA in 19 games, including eight starts, for the A's. The 26-year old was 4-8 with a 7.04 ERA in 16 starts with the Rockies. Kennedy has a career 35-51 record with a 4.91 ERA in 144 major league games. The A's also announced that catcher John Baker was claimed on waivers from the Florida Marlins. Baker hit .234 with five home runs and 41 RBI's in 103 games with Triple-A Sacramento last season. |
