Flushing, NY (My Sportsbook) - The New York Mets released Kazuhisa Ishii on Monday and signed three other pitchers to minor league contracts. Ishii was acquired in a trade by the Mets prior to the start of the 2005 regular season from the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 19 games, 16 starts, the lefty went 3-9 with a 5.14 ERA. He allowed 87 hits and walked 49 batters in 91 innings of work. On the same day that Ishii was dismissed, New York signed Darren Oliver, Pedro Feliciano and Jose Parra. Oliver, a 12-year veteran, has an 87-79 career record with a 5.07 lifetime ERA. He was with the Diamondbacks briefly last season, but then announced his retirement in May. Feliciano pitched for the Mets for three years before joining the Japanese Pacific League in 2005. He compiled a 1-1 record with a 4.21 ERA in New York during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Parra is also a former Met who joined the Japanese Pacific League last season. The 33-year-old righthander went 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA in 13 relief appearances with the Mets in 2004.
