Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Wizards signed veteran forward Charles Oakley to a one-year contract on Saturday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Charles Oakley gives us a tough veteran presence in the front court," Washington general manager Wes Unseld said. "He also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help our young big men." Oakley, 38, will be entering his 18th season in the NBA. He has taken the court for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. Over his career, Oakley has averaged 10.0 points and 9.8 rebounds in 1,233 games. Oakley is reunited with former Bulls teammate Michael Jordan and former Knicks center Patrick Ewing, who was hired by Washington to be an assistant coach.
