Colorado Springs, CO (My Sportsbook) - USA Basketball named head coaches Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, Mike D'Antoni of the Phoenix Suns and Nate McMillan of the Portland Trail Blazers assistant coaches for USA Basketball. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski was named the head coach for the team last month. "Our goal was to assemble a first rate coaching staff with Mike Krzyzewski in the leadership role and a talented group of respected and successful coaches assisting him," said USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo. "I'm very excited about this coaching staff." Boeheim is in his 30th year as head coach at Syracuse. In his previous 29 seasons, at the helm, the Orange have produced winning records. Syracuse has earned either NCAA Tournament or NIT berths in all but one of Boeheim's seasons, and he has guided the school to three NCAA championship game appearances, including the title in 2003. D'Antoni became the Suns' head coach on December 10, 2003. In 2004-05, his first full season as the team's head coach, D'Antoni led the third largest turnaround in NBA history, engineering the Suns to a club record-tying 62 wins, a 33-game improvement over a 29-53 record in 2003-04. McMillan was named head coach of the Blazers prior to this season. He served as head coach of the Seattle SuperSonics for five seasons and compiled a record of 212-183.
