(My Sportsbook) - The surging Buffalo Sabres try for their sixth win in seven games today, as they visit the slumping Washington Capitals at the MCI Center.

The Sabres picked up their second straight win Friday, beating the Montreal Canadiens at HSBC Arena.

Martin Biron made 40 saves to help Buffalo secure the 3-1 victory.

Tim Connolly and Brian Campbell each had a goal and an assist and Ales Kotalik added the other goal for the Sabres.

Tonight's game begins a three-game swing for the Sabres, who are 5-5-0 on the road this year. Buffalo will also visit Pittsburgh and Montreal during the trek.

The Capitals were in action Saturday night in Manhattan and lost a marathon 3-2 game to the New York Rangers. Marek Malik scored the game-winning goal in the 15th round of the shootout to lead the Rangers in the longest game in the NHL this season.

Chris Clark and Brian Willsie both tallied scores and Olaf Kolzig stopped 24 of 26 shots and 11-of-15 in the shootout for Washington, which has lost three straight.

Jeff Halpern posted an assist to extend his point streak to a career-best four games. He has no goals and four helpers in the stretch.

The Capitals are 6-4-1 at home this season.

This season, the Caps and Sabres have split two meetings -- both of which were played in Buffalo. The Sabres have won five of six and six of the last 10 meetings.

Buffalo has also won in its last two trips to the nation's capital.
