Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Marc Savard scored two goals and added two assists as the Atlanta Thrashers defeated the Florida Panthers, 7-4, at Philips Arena.

Michael Garnett made 16 saves in the game for Atlanta, which snapped a three- game losing streak. Vyacheslav Kozlov picked up a goal and added an assist.

"It's a great feeling to have your offense play so well and come through for you," said Garnett.

Chris Gratton, Rostislav Olesz, Gregory Campbell, and Martin Gelinas all tallied a goal apiece for the Panthers, who fell back to their losing ways after posting a 6-3 win versus Pittsburgh on Friday that broke a 12-game slide.

Jamie McLennan allowed three goals on 17 shots before Roberto Luongo replaced him at the start of the second period. Luongo made 16 saves over the final two periods.

Early in the final frame with the game tied at 4-4, Atlanta took the lead as Kozlov scored his sixth goal of the season. Ilya Kovalchuk made a backhand pass from the slot to Kozlov, who one-timed the puck past Luongo.

Atlanta made it a 6-4 game with a power-play tally with 4:40 left in the game as Savard buried a rebound over a sprawled out Luongo for his second goal of the game.

"It's hard generating any momentum when you are killing penalties all night," said Florida head coach Jacques Martin. "I think fatigue from playing last night was a factor for our poor third period."

Peter Bondra capped the night's scoring, netting his 13th goal of the season for Atlanta.

Atlanta started the game with a ton of energy and scored three goals in the opening period to pounce on the Panthers.

Jaroslav Modry let go a wrist shot from the point that made its way through a sea of players in front of the net, deflecting off Scott Mellanby's stick, then past McLennan at 13:19.

The Thrashers went up 2-0 after Greg DeVries scored his fourth goal of the season at the 16:41 mark.

Savard capped the first-period scoring, taking a feed from Marian Hossa in the slot, corralling the puck from his back-hand to fore-hand, slipping the disc past McLennan for the 3-0 lead with less than a minute to play in the first period.

It was all Florida in the second period as the Panthers scored three goals in the first seven minutes against Garnett to even things up.

Gratton scored on a feed from Gary Roberts at 3:48 of the period to get the Panthers rally started.

Olesz netted his second goal of the year after forcing a turnover at the Atlanta blue line, then beating Garnett, high glove side for the goal at the 5:36 mark.

Campbell got the equalizer after ripping a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that sailed past Garnett on his stick side exactly one minute later.

Atlanta scored with 1:31 left in the second stanza giving it a 4-3 lead. Niclas Havelid sent a shot from the left circle that handcuffed Luongo and beat him short side.

Florida stormed right back, tying things up with 43.4 seconds left as Gelinas scored his sixth of the season after poking a rebound home on the power play.

Game Notes

Havelid also picked up an assist for Atlanta...The Panthers had one power play chance and scored. The Thrashers were 1-of-7 with the man advantage...Atlanta outshot Florida 37-20...Savard now has 25 assists on the season.
