Nashville, TN (My Sportsbook) -
Tennessee Titans starting running back Chris Brown and quarterback Billy Volek seem to be recovering just fine after suffering injuries in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the
Arizona Cardinals.
Brown suffered a shoulder stinger in the first half and did not return. Volek, who was starting in place of the injured Steve McNair, left the game with a slight concussion in the second half.
"Billy is fine," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. "Billy had a slight headache after the ball game. He seemed fine today. He has got a little thigh bruise, but it shouldn't keep him from practicing this week."
McNair missed the game with a back problem. He remained in Tennessee to get rest and Fisher would like to see McNair to be at practice this week and start this Sunday against Oakland.
"He went out and threw today and he felt pretty good," said Fisher during his Monday press conference. "It is good to get him back. I would expect that he would be able to do some things for us on the practice field Wednesday."
Brown left the game in the early going and finished with 37 yards on 10 carries.
"Chris had a brachial plexis injury and lost feeling in his hand and didn't return to the game," said Fisher. "That feeling has started to come back. We are also going to do some tests as far as that is concerned. It is very typical in that type of injury."
Fisher also expects Brown to be able to practice this week and he will split reps during the week with running back Travis Henry, who is returning from a four-game league-imposed suspension for violating the substance abuse policy.
"We'll move (Henry) right into practice and let him get his reps," said Fisher. "We'll split reps depending how Chris is feeling. I know he has been working hard. He feels good. Condition-wise he is in good shape. He is very excited about coming back."
Fisher also said that it is a possibility that Henry could start if Brown can't go on Sunday against Oakland.
To make room for Henry on the active roster, the Titans released wide receiver Andrae Thurman.
In other injury news, wide receiver Brandon Jones, who is getting more time due to starter Drew Bennett's dislocated wrist that required surgery, also hurt his knee in Sunday's game. He is having tests to determine the extent of the injury and Fisher expects to have results later in the week.
