Irving, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Dallas Cowboys have released kicker Jose Cortez. Cortez made a 21-yard field goal but also missed a 29-yarder during this past Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. For the season, he had made 12- of-16 field goal tries and 13-of-14 point-after attempts. "Everyone needs to have a reliable kicker in the NFL," said Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells at a Monday news conference. "The games are too close. You just have to have one." The Cowboys signed Shaun Suisham to take Cortez's place. The rookie from Bowling Green had been a part of Dallas' practice squad during the season. After the Cowboys recovered a muffed punt at the Seattle nine-yard line in the first minute of the fourth quarter, Cortez missed a 29-yard field goal attempt that would have given Dallas a 10-3 lead. "That was a big miss," Parcells stated. Cortez later made a 21-yarder, after a Dallas interception, to make it 10-3, but the Cowboys then allowed a Seattle touchdown to tie it and an interception led to Josh Brown's 50-yard game winning field goal as time expired.
