Surfer's Paradise, Australia (My Sportsbook) - Fighting a wet track as well as 18 other competitors, Sebastien Bourdais captured the provisional pole for this weekend's Lexmark Indy 300 Champ Car race in Surfer's Paradise, Australia. The No.1 Newman-Haas Racing driver circled the 2.795-mile temporary street course in one minute, 45.739 seconds (95.159 m.p.h.). Cristiano da Matta holds the course record of 111.547 m.p.h. which he set in October 2002. Bourdais earned one championship point for the provisional pole to expand his lead to 311-244 over teammate Oriol Servia. He will clinch the championship by earning both qualifying bonus points. Paul Tracy was second quickest with a lap of 1:46.920 seconds. Nelson Philippe (1:47.321), Servia (1:47.872) and da Matta (1:48.346) completed the top-five. In 14 Lexmark Indy 300 events to date, no driver has won the race more than one time. The second qualifying session is set for Friday night and the race is scheduled Saturday night at 11:15 p.m. (edt).
