Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Friday that they have waived guard William Avery and center Alvin Jones. Avery, 23, has averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 assists per game in his three-year career, all with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Avery was signed by the Sixers as a free agent on September 30, 2002, and played in the Sixers' first preseason game, and scored six points in 26 minutes. The 24-year-old Jones, is a 2001 graduate of Georgia Tech, and was the 57th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. In his lone NBA season he averaged 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 23 games for the Sixers.
