Lisbon, Portugal (My Sportsbook) - Portugal midfielder Armando Petit withdrew from the squad due to a thigh injury. Petit suffered the injury last weekend in SuperLiga action. The 28-year-old Benfica midfielder will miss Saturday's home game against Luxembourg and Wednesday's road contest in Russia. Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari did not name a replacement for Petit. The Portuguese team is currently atop Group 3 with 20 points from eight matches. Slovakia is second with 18 points after nine games.
