Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Pat Gillick announced Wednesday that he will return as executive vice president and general manager of the Seattle Mariners next season, putting rumors to rest that he would leave the club. The 65-year-old Gillick has 28 years of front office experience in the majors and has spent the last three seasons with the Mariners. His three-year contract expired after this past season. "I'm really enjoying my time with the Mariners," Gillick said. "Seattle has great fans, a committed ownership group and a terrific ballpark. I have the opportunity to work with great people; Roger Jongewaard, Lee Pelekoudas, Benny Looper and all our scouts and staff do a great job. When I came here I said I wanted to take this team to the next level; that's still my goal." Gillick started his career with Houston in 1963 and joined the Yankees in 1974 before moving to the Toronto Blue Jays on August 16, 1976. He also spent time with the Baltimore Orioles.
