Buenos Aires, Argentina (My Sportsbook) - Argentina defeated Brazil, 3-1, on Wednesday night en route to becoming the first team from the South American bracket to qualify for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Hernan Crespo netted two goals and Juan Roman Riquelme also found the back of the net to give Argentina a 3-0 advantage at the intermission. Roberto Carlos scored in the 72nd minute for Brazil, but it was too little, too late. Argentina has 31 points, with Brazil remaining in second place with 27 points. The top four teams in this region get automatic bids to the World Cup, while the fifth place team will also have an opportunity to travel to Germany in a playoff match with the Oceania bracket.
