| hman Green (439 yards, 3 TDs) has eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in each of the last two weeks, and is starting to look like the Green of old. Last week, the veteran ran for multiple scores in a game for the first time since doing so against the Washington Redskins in 2002. Green has averaged 4.8 yards per carry in two career contests versus Buffalo. The Packers are 11th in the NFL in rushing with a 114.9 clip per game, and the numbers are rising after Vernand Morency chipped in last week with 11 carries for 1 |

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins receiver Santana Moss missed his sixth consecutive practice Friday with an injured left hamstring and isn't expected to play against the Dallas Cowboys. Asked whether he'd ruled out Moss for Sunday's game, Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said: ``Yeah. Looks more and more like it will be hard to have him go.'' On Washington's official injury report, Moss was downgraded Friday from questionable to doubtful. Moss has more yards receiving (435) than the other four wideouts on t |

| P) -In his second NFL start, Tony Romo is facing a Gregg Williams defense. Usually, that's cause to shield your eyes and hide the children. But ugly days have been few and far between for the quarterbacks, even the younger ones, who have faced the Washington Redskins this year. Besides, Romo won't be a nervous newcomer when he comes to town with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday - he's the league's latest instant celebrity, his gaudy 1-0 record only 14 wins shy of Ben Roethlisberger's 15-0 regular-season debut run wi |

| Eagles extend DT Patterson through 2016 |
NFL Football |

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Second-year defensive tackle Mike Patterson signed a seven-year contract extension worth $32 million that will make him a Philadelphia Eagle through 2016. The deal came quickly over the last week, Patterson said in a conference call Thursday. ``If anything, I was thinking later on in the summer,'' Patterson said. ``It kind of threw me off at first.'' The contract extension, which could be worth more than $40 million with incentives, came unusually early in Patterson's career - just a year and a half into his rookie deal - making him the first member of his draft class to get a significant extension. The extension contains $9 million in guaranteed money. Patterson, 23, started seven games last season after being drafted by the Eagles with the 31st pick out of Southern California in the 2005 draft. Patterson, a three-year starter at USC, had 44 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks as a rookie. This season, Patterson has started all eight games and has 28 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and recovered two fumbles - one he returned 98 yards for a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers, the longest in team history. The Eagles are fond of locking up their young players early. Starting cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, as well as guard Shawn Andrews, are among the young stars the team has signed to long-term deals well before their rookie contracts expired. In return for an early payday, the team avoids having their young players hit free agency in their prime. Patterson said it was a tough decision to accept the contract and push his chance at free agency well off into the future, but he was comfortable with his choice. ``They presented an offer and it was a good one,'' he said. ``I thought this was the best thing for me to do.'' The Eagles' historically good performances under coach Andy Reid gave Patterson the confidence to sign a long-term deal with the team. ``Everybody that's been here for a long time that I've talked to, they've been happy,'' Patterson said. Patterson broke his left hand in last week's dismal 13-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and underwent surgery earlier this week, but doesn't expect to miss any time. The Eagles are off this week and return from the bye to host the Washington Redskins on Nov. 12. Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. In getting ready to play Romo, Owens and the Cowboys on Sunday, the Washington Redskins watched tape of that game. Cornerback Carlos Rogers came away convinced Romo and Owens already have a bond. ``We know that they're so-called tight friends right now because he's throwing him the ball a lot,'' Rogers said. Henry had a career day in the Titans' victory over the Washington Redskins and took over the main duties. On Sunday against the Houston Texans, the Titans ran the ball 27 times for 111 yards, which are certainly respectable numbers, but not quite the staggering 42-carry, 193-yard extravaganza that was trotted out against t |

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell stayed up to watch the whole game Sunday night when Tony Romo won as a first-time starter for the Dallas Cowboys. ``He kept his composure, played with a lot of poise,'' Campbell said Monday. ``It's something you have to do when your first time comes.'' Campbell did his best not to sound envious, but he is still waiting for his first time. And with the Cowboys coming to town this week, the debate over when that should happen will only intensif |

People can get staph from contaminated objects, and the infection can be spread by skin-to-skin contact. The Browns aren't the first NFL team to have battle staph, which has become increasingly resistant to antibiotics. Earlier this year, the Washington Redskins hired a company to treat their practice facility in Ashburn, Va., with a spray that controls the growth of bacteria and mold. Before the spraying to combat MRSA - a potent form of staph - the team installed new carpeting and painted its locker room, |
