Hasselbeck hopes to rebound from 5 turnovers NFL Football 12/17/2010

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Matt Hasselbeck had never had a game like this before.

Hasselbeck had five turnovers in Sunday's 40-21 loss against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

That game left the Seahawks (6-7) tied with the St. Louis Rams for first place in the mediocre NFC West.

Hasselbeck had four interceptions and lost a fumble after being sacked by 49ers linebacker Travis LaBoy. The turnovers led to 20 points for Alex Smith and the 49ers' offense.

Hasselbeck knew this week's film session wasn't goi

Chiefs-Rams game meets sellout requirements NFL Football 12/16/2010

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Rams have met NFL television requirements for their game Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, although a limited number of tickets remain.

The Rams have avoided a local television blackout each of the first seven home games. Last year, their final three games were not sellouts in a 1-15 season.

Sunday's game matches surprise division leaders, with St. Louis ahead in the NFC West and Kansas City atop the AFC West.

Gov. Jay Nixon was scheduled to attend the Rams' practi

Rams eager to shed slow starts NFL Football 12/16/2010

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The opening kickoff has been a launching pad lately for St. Louis Rams opponents.

The last three weeks - all road games - has been a game of catchup for St. Louis. Denver was up 10-0, Arizona was ahead 6-0 and New Orleans had a 14-0 cushion - all the points coming in the first two possessions.

The Rams (6-7) recovered to win the first two, outscoring the Broncos 26-3 in the second and third quarters and blanking the Cardinals the rest of the game. Last week was a different story as the

Chiefs' Cassel limited in practice NFL Football 12/15/2010
Kansas City, MO (MySportsbook) - Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was limited in Wednesday's practice and is listed as day-to-day for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Cassel missed Sunday's 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers after undergoing an appendectomy earlier in the week. "It's great to be back out there," Cassel said in a post-practice interview. "The medical staff, the trainers and the coaches will discuss it and see where I'm at. If I can go out there and throw and move around
Rams CB Baretell expects to play vs Chiefs NFL Football 12/15/2010

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Rams cornerback Ron Bartell expects to play this week, even if he's not fully recovered from a stinger that has sapped strength in his left shoulder.

The Rams lost 31-13 at New Orleans without Bartell, their top coverage man. Bartell vowed Wednesday that he'd play this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs given the team's playoff hopes.

St. Louis leads the NFC West at 6-7 and is playing its first meaningful December games since Bartell joined the team in 2005.

So just five days after undergoing an appendectomy that kept him out of an ugly 31-0 loss at San Diego on Sunday, the Chiefs starter was back at the team's facility to review game film and kick-start preparation for its next go-round against the St. Louis Rams. "That's why I'm here," Cassel said. "I'll do what I normally do. It will be a normal week of preparation. It will be a better week for me." Brees threw for three touchdown passes with two interceptions in Sunday's 31-13 win at home versus the St. Louis Rams, a team the Saints could face in the opening round of the playoffs if they don't win their division. Notes: New Orleans Saints kickoff returner Courtney Roby, who was taken to a local hospital after suffering a neck injury and a concussion against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, appears to have no long-term damage. Said Payton: ``He has some soreness in his neck, but the news is good. We'll see where he's at this week.'' Rams CB Bartell could get limited work Wednesday Headlines 12/13/2010

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Rams cornerback Ron Bartell could get limited work when the team returns to practice after he missed Sunday's loss at New Orleans with a stinger to his neck and left shoulder.

The team's top coverage cornerback has been working with trainers trying to get his strength back. Players got Monday and Tuesday off before resuming workouts on Wednesday.

Coach Steve Spagnuolo said Justin King, another cornerback with a similar injury, was making better progress.
