ST. LOUIS (AP) -The St. Louis Rams have placed defensive tackle Adam Carriker on injured reserve with a shoulder injury from the preseason finale. That move was among several that left the team with 54 players - one over the limit it had to reach by Saturday afternoon. The Rams waived running backs Antonio Pittman and Chris Ogbonnaya, and guard Roy Schuening. Rookie Keith Null won the third-string quarterback job over Brock Berlin, who was waived. St. Louis also waived LBs K.C. Asiodu and Dominic D |

Olson previously served as an offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions in 2005 and the St. Louis Rams from 2006-07. "He's called plays in this league for awhile," Morris added. "[He's] been back and forth, been through the grind, been through everything we need to get done, knows where we want to go, very detailed coach, very precise coach and that' |

| (MySportsbook) - A brand new regime and a revamped roster have the St. Louis Rams beaming with optimism heading into the 2009 season. After all, there really isn't anywhere to go but up. The Rams followed up a dreadful 3-13 season in 2007 with an even less successful one last year, winning a measly two times and ending the campaign on a 10-game losing streak. Those five wins over the two-year span are the fewest of any NFL team during that time period, while St. Louis' 2-14 record in 2008 was the franchise |

The defense did have one notable defection from last year's group, as highly- regarded coordinator Steve Spagnuolo vacated his post in January to take over as the St. Louis Rams' head coach. He's been replaced by Bill Sheridan, who had served the previous four seasons as the Giants' linebackers coach. Spagnuolo's departure and the exodus of Burress, Toomer and Ward (signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent in March) are all pote |

Despite that dubious distinction, special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro actually got a promotion to move on to the St. Louis Rams when his friend, Steve Spagnuolo, got the Rams coaching gig. Needless to say, the Vikings weren't all that sad to see Ferraro go and promoted Brian Murphy in the hopes of improving things. Much of the problem stemmed from the poor directional puntin |

Torry Holt, who played his first 10 seasons as a member of the St. Louis Rams (1999-2008), wore a Jaguars uniform before his new home fans for the first time and had one catch for 23 yards. | St. Louis, MO (MySportsbook) - St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger suffered a fracture of the pinky finger of his throwing hand Monday, and will miss the next two weeks. Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo called it a "small fracture," that was shown to be non-displaced. He added Bulger won't wear a cast and instead will have it taped. Spagnuolo said Bulger "won't do very much for two weeks, just to be on the safe side." Kyle Boller steps in as the Rams' starting quarterback in Bulger's absence, which will |

| The Bears did little to upgrade a bottom-five group of receivers in the offseason, and the man protecting the franchise QB's blind side is Orlando Pace, whose many injuries and decreasing effectiveness helped to contribute to a lot of losing for the St. Louis Rams over the past couple of years. The defense doesn't look much better either, especially with tackle Tommie Harris and cornerback Charles Tillman - two of the veteran leaders of the unit - not expected to be seen much before September following offsea |

| East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook) - Sean Walker's 13-yard touchdown reception midway through the fourth quarter was the difference, as the St. Louis Rams clipped the New York Jets, 23-20, in the preseason opener for both clubs. Marc Bulger was a perfect 4-of-4 through the air, finishing with 77 yards for the Rams. Sam Gado rushed six times for 93 yards, including a 77-yard TD. Kellen Clemens, battling with rookie Mark Sanchez to be New York's starting quarterback, completed all four of his passes but fumb |
