| Charlotte, NC (MySportsbook) - San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith left Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers after suffering a shoulder sprain in the third quarter. The injury occurred on the opening drive of the second half, when he was sacked by Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson. The 49ers said Smith's X- rays came back negative. David Carr replaced Smith under center, and finished 5-of-13 for 67 yards and an interception in the 23-20 loss. Smith was 9-of-19 for 129 yards and a score. |
