Chiefs left tackle Turley inactive NFL Football 10/01/2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Left tackle Kyle Turley was inactive Sunday for Kansas City's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jordan Black, a four-year veteran who struggled last season while filling in at left tackle, was listed as starter.

Turley, a former Pro Bowler with New Orleans, is attempting a comeback after a two-year absence following back surgery. He missed practice all week with a sore back.

is in turmoil. The entire offensive approach is in flux and the defense is showing progress, but still working to adapt to a new way of going about the job.

The Kansas City Chiefs under Herm Edwards are 0-2, so expect a fired-up home team when the San Francisco 49ers and rapidly improving second-year quarterback Alex Smith hit town Sunday.

An 0-3 start, just their second since 1980, would likely doom the Chiefs to a 13th consecutive year without a postseason victory. Coming off an encouraging 10-6 campaign, th

``Sincerely, Trent Green.''

How long Green will be sidelined remains unknown. Coach Herm Edwards said Monday he will miss a second straight start Sunday when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Green was going into a feet-first hook slide when he was knocked unconscious by a thunderous, head-snapping hit from Cincinnati's Robert Geathers. Geathers was not penalized and Green's teammates, many after viewing replays

Niners RB Gore expected to play, but TE Davis out NFL Football 09/25/2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -The San Francisco 49ers got good news about running back Frank Gore and confirmed bad news about tight end Vernon Davis on Monday.

Gore is expected to be in the 49ers' lineup at Kansas City on Sunday despite bruised ribs that sidelined him in the third quarter of their loss to Philadelphia. Davis, the sixth overall pick in the draft, will be out four weeks with a broken bone in his right leg.

The 49ers' two young offensive stars were hurt on the same play last Sunday in their 38-24

Chiefs' Green definitely out for Sunday's game NFL Football 09/25/2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Trent Green will not play in the Kansas City Chiefs' game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Green, 36, suffered a severe concussion in the Sept. 10 season opener against Cincinnati and has been replaced by journeyman Damon Huard.

Coach Herm Edwards said Monday that Green was ``doing better'' and might even visit the team sometime this week, but Edwards said Green was definitely out for Sunday's game.
