With an offense that's the league's third-best in scoring and a defense that's allowed the fewest total yards and passing yards in the NFL, the San Diego Chargers shouldn't be in a fight for their playoff lives heading into Week 14 for the NFL season. But that's precisely where the four-time defending AFC West champions find themselves on the eve of a Qualcomm Stadium showdown with current division leader Kansas City this Sunday. Both Oakland and Jacksonville went over 200 yards rushing a weekend ago, with the Raiders using the tandem of Darren McFadden and Michael Bush to run past the usually tough-in-December San Diego Chargers by a 28-13 score to snap a two-game slide. Meanwhile, running back Maurice Jones-Drew shouldered much of the load in the Jaguars' 17-6 triumph versus the Tennessee Titans. Both clubs also have quarterbacks that can get into the act. SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers have notified the city that they won't exercise their 2011 escape clause on Feb. 1. Wednesday's announcement comes amid recent speculation that the Chargers could be headed to Los Angeles. Between Feb. 1 and April 30 of each year through 2020, the Chargers can announce their intentions to leave if they pay off the bonds used to expand Qualcomm in 1997. That figure is currently around $26 million. Last week, a report that sports and entertainment powerhouse Anschutz |

Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable was in full-scale aggressive mode in Sunday's 28-13 victory over the streaking San Diego Chargers, eschewing field- goal opportunities to convert a pair of fourth-down chances that energized his offensive players. "That was big," quarterback Jason Campbell said of those decisions. "That showed a lot of confidence in us. That shows we were going |

SAN DIEGO (AP) -Antonio Gates hasn't even thought about simply sitting out a game or two to let the torn plantar fascia in his right foot heal. He sees how his foot feels on Saturday nights, then tests it in the hours leading up to kickoff on Sundays. He was unable to play in consecutive games sandwiched around the Chargers' bye, the first time in his stellar career that he'd been sidelined b |
