Chiefs' Cassel limited in practice NFL Football 12/15/2010
Kansas City, MO (MySportsbook) - Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was limited in Wednesday's practice and is listed as day-to-day for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Cassel missed Sunday's 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers after undergoing an appendectomy earlier in the week. "It's great to be back out there," Cassel said in a post-practice interview. "The medical staff, the trainers and the coaches will discuss it and see where I'm at. If I can go out there and throw and move around with
Chargers sell enough tickets to lift blackout NFL Football 12/14/2010

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers say enough tickets have been sold to lift the TV blackout in Southern California for their game against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night.

d tackles, when you really break it down," Cable said of the defense's struggles. "[On the decisive Jones-Drew touchdown], we called a line stunt and executed it wrong." CHARGERS: For those anticipating a premature season shutdown for injury-ravaged San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, don't hold your breath. The multiple-time All-Pro raised some eyebrows when he openly considered an extended timeout after missing Sunday's 31-0 win over Kansas City due to recurring issues with a torn plantar fascia in his
Chargers still alive in chase for AFC West title NFL Football 12/13/2010

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers know that their 31-0 win over AFC West leader Kansas City means only that their hopes of winning the division remain alive at least until their next game.

That next game gets here a lot quicker than normal. The Chargers (7-6) will play host on Thursday to the San Francisco 49ers, who at 5-8 still have a chance to win the awful NFC West.

Quarterback Philip Rivers says the only thing the Chargers can control is winning their games. The Chargers pulled within one game o

Vikings/Eagles to play Sunday night in Week 16 NFL Football 12/13/2010
New York, NY (MySportsbook) - The NFL has finalized its Week 16 schedule and has decided to move the game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles to Sunday night. The original schedule called for the San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals as the prime time matchup on NBC, but that contest has been moved to 4:05 p.m. (et) on CBS. Seattle and Tampa Bay was also moved from 1 p.m. (et) to 4:15 p.m. (et) on Sunday. The NFL is again utilizing a "flexible scheduling" system for the final seven weeks

San Diego, CA (MySportsbook) - Philip Rivers had two touchdown passes as the San Diego Chargers notched a 31-0 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC West battle. With the win, San Diego (7-6) moved to one game back of Kansas City (8-5) for the top spot in the division. San Diego's final three games are against San Francisco, Cincinnati and Denver, all sub-.500 teams, while the Chiefs face St. Louis, Tennessee and Oakland, three teams also with losing records. Chargers TE Gates inactive due to foot injury NFL Football 12/12/2010

SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is inactive for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a torn plantar fascia in his right foot.

It's the third time in five games Gates has been forced to sit with the injury.

Legedu Naanee, bothered by a hamstring injury, is the Chargers' third quarterback. Vincent Jackson, coming back from a calf injury that sidelined him in a loss to Oakland, is to start in Naanee's spot. Right guard Louis Vasquez is out with a stinger.

Chiefs rule out Cassel; Croyle to start vs. Chargers NFL Football 12/11/2010
Kansas City, MO (MySportsbook) - The Kansas City Chiefs will go into their key AFC West matchup against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday with a quarterback who has never won as a starter, as Brodie Croyle will fill in for the injured Matt Cassel. Cassel, still recovering from undergoing an appendectomy on Wednesday, was downgraded from doubtful to out and did not make the trip to San Diego. He returned to the practice field on Friday but did not dress, instead getting in some light throwing drills with teammat
New faces abound in Broncos-Cardinals matchup NFL Football 12/10/2010
s-first offense this season. Only four teams in the NFL -- including Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts and Drew Brees' New Orleans Saints -- have thrown more times than Kyle Orton and the Broncos. Only three -- the Colts, Saints and Philip Rivers' San Diego Chargers -- have passed for more yards. Orton is only the 10th-rated quarterback in the league, but it's hard to blame any of Denver's problems on him. He has passed for 3,487 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. Which is all good news for the Bro
