SAN DIEGO (AP) -Halloween came a day early for the San Diego Chargers. LaDainian Tomlinson wore a gorilla mask to his weekly news conference a day after he reminded everyone how good he is by gaining 240 yards from scrimmage and scoring three touchdowns. Shawne Merriman didn't wear a mask, but the star outside linebacker was disguising his intentions regarding the appeal of his positive drug test. After he had three sacks in Sunday's 38-24 win over the St. Louis Rams, Merriman said he'd speak with his at |

| (MySportsbook) - The San Diego Chargers had a rough week, and would like to take out their frustrations on the St. Louis Rams when the teams meet this Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium. First of all, San Diego dropped a divisional game in Kansas City after the Chiefs rolled through the vaunted Chargers defense en route to a dramatic 30-27 victory. However, the big news came after the game, when it was revealed that outside linebacker Shawne Merriman will be suspended for four games for violating the NFL's steroid pol |

SAN DIEGO (AP) -The San Diego Chargers found out they're not quite so invincible, after all. Feeling they were one of the NFL's elite teams, the Chargers went into Kansas City and fell behind 20-3, thanks to three first-quarter turnovers. They rallied to tie the game, but lost 30-27 on a last-second field goal. While they were flying home, news broke that star outside linebacker Shawne Merriman tested positive for steroids and was facing a four-game suspension. So they'll be trying to rebound on two fron |

SAN DIEGO (AP) -Life appeared to be normal Wednesday for the San Diego Chargers and their star linebacker, Shawne Merriman, who's free to keep practicing and playing while he appeals a positive steroid test that could lead to a four-game suspension. After practice, quarterback Philip Rivers pulled on a red Maryland T-shirt. Merriman enjoyed seeing his alma mater's colors on his former college rival so much that he laughed and took a picture with his cell phone. ``Maryland beat us this weekend and me and Me |

| San Diego, CA (MySportsbook) - The San Diego Chargers signed linebacker Akbar Gbaja-Biamila on Tuesday. The move was made because Shaun Phillips is out 2-4 weeks due to a strained calf. Gbaja-Biamila, who played 28 games for Oakland over the 2003 and '04 seasons, spent this past offseason with the Chargers and was waived just prior to the start of the regular season. The Chargers also released linebacker Nick Speegle on Tuesday. |

Enter first-year receiver Ruvell Martin, an undrafted player from Saginaw Valley State who spent time on Green Bay's practice squad a year ago and before that, represented the San Diego Chargers in NFL Europe. Assuming Jennings doesn't play, it will be Martin starting against Arizona in Week 8. Behind Martin at the No. 3 receiver slot is likely to be undrafted rookie Chris Francies. | (MySportsbook) - The Kansas City Chiefs needed to rebound from a dreadful performance with a win this week, and were able to do it. Barely. The Chiefs edged out the visiting San Diego Chargers, 30-27, after blowing a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter. KC looked very impressive in the first half, as it jumped out to a 20-6 edge by the break and still held a 27-13 advantage at the end of 36 minutes. San Diego came charging back in the final quarter, but it was kicker Lawrence Tynes who had the final word, as h |
