ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson limped off the field and the team's training staff treated his right knee on the sideline Sunday. He was hobbled as he tried to walk after the Pittsburgh Steelers beat Detroit 28-20. Johnson was running a route across the end zone in the first quarter when he pulled up and appeared to be in pain. He left the previous game at Chicago with a thigh injury that slowed him during practice.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved |

| (MySportsbook) - Though there were certain to be battles for AFC North supremacy during the 2009 season, it stood to reason that most or all of those tests would include the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. But in yet another example of the nebulous nature of preseason prognostications, the team that emerges on top of Sunday's matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium will be alone in first place atop a division that most had going to the Black and Gol |

| Lions' Foote hopes to make Steelers regret release |

DETROIT (AP) -Larry Foote wants to show and tell the Pittsburgh Steelers what they're missing. ``They made the wrong move,'' Foote said. ``If we get the W, it'll be even sweeter.'' It would also be surprising. The lowly Lions (1-3) are a double-digit underdog Sunday at home against the defending champion Steelers (2-2). Pittsburgh cut Foote in May after he asked to be traded or released because he didn't want to share time with Lawrence Timmons, who was drafted 15th overall two years ago by the Steelers |

PITTSBURGH (AP) -One sight you'll won't see on the Pittsburgh Steelers' sideline: The players mimicking those high school and college teams that hold up four fingers as a game winds down, signifying the fourth quarter belongs to them. The Steelers (2-2) have faltered repeatedly in the fourth quarter this season, and it's probably their biggest concern one-quarter of the way through a season in which their defense has yet to play up to its reputation. Last season, the Steelers allowed only 75 points in the f |

| (AP) -Matthew Stafford says he didn't practice Wednesday and hasn't been cleared to run because the Detroit Lions want to reduce swelling in his right knee. Stafford says, ``I don't know, we'll see,'' when asked if he will play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Detroit coach Jim Schwartz told reporters the injury report would be out at 4 o'clock when asked for an update on Stafford after he was held out of practice for the second straight day. Stafford had his right knee twisted on a sack in Sunday's |

| r. Save for a dominating first-half surge that fueled a 14-point win over Jacksonville back in Week 2, the Cardinals simply haven't been the same team that muscled its way through last season's NFC Playoffs and came within a whisker of upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII. Arizona dropped two of its first three tests before the break, with both of those defeats taking place at home. In hindsight, Arizona's early losses to San Francisco and Indianapolis don't appear as bad as they initially seemed, |

PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Pittsburgh Steelers might not have to wonder any longer how much better they would be if they had star safety Troy Polamalu. Polamalu is expected to practice on a limited basis Wednesday for the first time since tearing the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Sept. 10 against Tennessee - an injury that potentially could have sidelined him until midseason. Polamalu, a five-time Pro Bowl player, will wear a brace on the knee. He must show the Steelers' medical staff that he can st |

SAN DIEGO (AP) -The San Diego Chargers aren't off to the fast start they envisioned, especially after getting pounded by the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Coach Norv Turner says he expected the Chargers (2-2) to play better than they have in the first quarter of the season. They head into their bye week smarting from a 38-28 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday night and looking to regroup physically as well as mentally. The Chargers gave up 497 yards and fell behind 28-0 before Philip Rivers a |
