| Chargers trying for 13th straight win over Raiders |
NFL Football |
10/29/2009 |

SAN DIEGO (AP) -The San Diego Chargers might want to send a thank-you note to the NFL schedule makers. After bruising losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos, the Chargers were handed the perfect get-well remedy: the two worst teams in the AFC West. Last Sunday the Chargers routed the last-place Kansas City Chiefs by 30 points. This Sunday they get a home date with archrival Oakland, and with it the chance to beat the lowly Raiders for the 13th straight time. These are the same Raiders (2-5) |

| ast five seasons. Ben Roethlisberger is second in the NFL in yards passing. James Harrison is threatening to break the team record for sacks again. Hines Ward is playing as if he's 23, not 33. Teams still can't run the ball effectively against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In September, the rest of the NFL kept looking for the faults and fallacies in the defending Super Bowl champion. They were visible, too: an overtime win over still-winless Tennessee; a flurry of fourth-quarter points allowed; last-minute losses |

| he things we're asking our punter to do, that Mitch would give us an opportunity to improve in that area. We made the change and we're going to work hard to make sure that it's the right move.'' Berger, who won a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, was out of football until being signed Monday. McDaniels said critical factors in adding Berger were his experience and grasp of the art of punting, including the ability to take something off his kicks or direct them in a bid to pin op |

| NFC North: Vikes live by the Favre, die by the Favre |
NFL Football |

| (MySportsbook) - There were no late-game heroics this time, and Brett Favre proved to the world that he is not, in fact, a cyborg. Sure, the Minnesota Vikings largely outplayed the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Heinz Field, but a couple of senior moments by Favre turned what could have been the Vikes' first 7-0 start since 2000 into a 27-17 loss. When it comes to Favre, you take the frequently good with the occasional bad, and there's no question that the scale has been heavily weighted in favor of the forme |

| Much offense expected in Steelers-Vikings tilt |
NFL Football |
10/24/2009 |
| |
| (MySportsbook) - A previous glance at this weekend's game between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field would have likely conjured up images of a defensive onslaught. Mental pictures of the Vikings' Jared Allen stuffing repeated attempts by the Steelers to run the ball alongside defensive lineman Pat and Kevin Williams would probably have burst to the brain in the Twin Cities. On the other side, fans of the Black and Gold would be painting portraits of Troy Polamalu grabbing passes out of |

One week after beating the Buffalo Bills by an ugly 6-3 score for their first win in the Mangini era, the flu-stricken Browns suffered their 12th straight loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with this past Sunday's 27-14 decision. The highlight of the day for Cleveland was Joshua Cribbs' 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, while the low point was quarterback Derek Anderson's ineptitude under center. | Minneapolis, MN (MySportsbook) - Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield is doubtful for Sunday's tilt with the Pittsburgh Steelers after sitting out practice this week with a foot injury. Winfield sprained his right foot in the second quarter of last Sunday's 33-31 triumph over Baltimore and did not return. With the 2008 Pro Bowl selection sidelined, Minnesota blew a 14-0 lead and let the Ravens back into the game during the second half. Questionable for the second straight week due to a shoulder injury |

| ves credit for not rocking the boat with his unhappiness, surprising given the Browns are just 1-5 on the season. But that could change if this situation lingers without a resolution. It is time for the Browns to show Cribbs the money. STEELERS: The Pittsburgh Steelers have the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, one of the top safeties in the league and a defensive reputation that comes in second to few, if any. However, after a slow start, it is the offense that is carrying the Steelers week-to-week and back |
