New York, NY (MySportsbook) - Linebacker DEREK REHAGE of the Pittsburgh Steelers, running back JONATHAN SMITH of the Amsterdam Admirals, and punt returner BRANDON MIDDLETON of the Frankfurt Galaxy are the NFL Europa League Defensive, Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the sixth week of the 2007 season (May 18-20), the league announced today. ts in preparation for the 2007 season.

Frye spent an extra 40 minutes after practice working with the other QBs, then walked off the field and stated without hesitation that he expects to be under center when the Browns open on Sept. 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

``I really can't predict the future, but I'm preparing like I'm the starter,'' Frye said. ``I never knew I lost it.''

On draft day last month, Frye was inside Browns' headquarters when the club selected offensive tackle Joe Thomas with the No.

Training camp is 2 months away, but Tomlin sees much to do Headlines 05/21/2007

PITTSBURGH (AP) -The whistle around coach Mike Tomlin's neck is a tip-off that it's not business as usual with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bill Cowher was never seen tooting a whistle during his 15 seasons as the Steelers' coach. Nor was Chuck Noll during his 23 seasons. So some Steelers players were taken by surprise when Tomlin, and not an assistant, sent them scurrying to a new drill with a whistle blast during their recent minicamp.

For Tomlin, it might be a way to remind the players that he is in charge,

Steelers sign Barlow to one-year deal NFL Football 05/10/2007
Pittsburgh, PA (MySportsbook) - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed running back Kevan Barlow to a one-year contract on Thursday. Financial terms of the deal were not released. After spending five seasons in San Francisco, Barlow was traded to the New York Jets last August. He ran for a career-low 370 yards on 131 attempts last season, a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The Jets released the disappointing Barlow in February. Barlow, who played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh, has rushed for 3,984 yards in hi
Bar fight charges dismissed against Steelers' Deshea Townsend NFL Football 05/07/2007

PITTSBURGH (AP) -A judge dismissed an assault charge against Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Deshea Townsend after witnesses said he wasn't involved in a fight at a nightclub in March.

``There were six witnesses, and four said he wasn't involved in the fight and two said they weren't sure who was involved in it,'' Townsend's attorney, Robert DelGreco, told The Associated Press on Monday. ``Deshea said from the beginning that he was not involved in this fight, and he wasn't.''

n James, the Cardinals finished last in the NFL in average yards per carry and 30th - out of 32 teams - in yardage rushing last season.

That helped lead to the firing of coach Dennis Green and the hiring of Whisenhunt, offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whisenhunt brought offensive line coach Russ Grimm with him.

The Cardinals let left tackle Leonard Davis - the No. 2 pick in the 2001 draft - leave for free agency at the end of last season because they felt he underachieved and wouldn't be worth
