| >Friday's move came after Simmons was inactive for six of his seven games with the team. He played only on special teams on Oct. 18 in a 59-0 win over the Tennessee Titans. Simmons, 30, signed with the Patriots on Sept. 6 after being waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers. They chose him with the 30th pick of the first round in 2002 out of Auburn and he started all 80 games in which he played during seven seasons with Pittsburgh. He missed the entire 2004 season with a right knee injury and was limited to four games |

The Boston Celtics have the most NBA titles with 17, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have won six Super Bowls, most in the NFL. This title was extra special for the Yankees, as it came in the first year of their new $1.5 billion ballpark. Ironically, the Yankees opened their original stadium in 1923 with a World Series win. NFL Football |

PITTSBURGH (AP) -The more coach Mike Tomlin keeps talking about it, the more agitated his players get. Exactly the response Tomlin wants from his Pittsburgh Steelers. Tomlin keeps referring to the Broncos as having ``the world's best defense,'' a reference to Denver's spot atop the NFL team yardage statistics. He mentioned it during the weekly team meeting. Before practice on Wednesday. Before practice on Thursday. And he'll likely keep saying it until game time Monday. By constantly reminding that the Br |

They were made before last season's Super Bowl, meant to be worn by mammoth linemen inside a victorious locker room - until the Pittsburgh Steelers won the NFL title. ``They wear them as dresses,'' Karen Kartes, media relations director for World Vision United States, said with a laugh. PITTSBURGH (AP) -The thin air in Denver isn't as much of a concern to the Pittsburgh Steelers as their rapidly thinning defensive line. The Steelers (5-2) already were without defensive end Aaron Smith, a premier run-stopper who is out for the rest of the season with a torn right rotator cuff. Now they're missing his replacement, Travis Kirschke, who has a torn left calf muscle that could sideline him another couple of weeks. He was injured during a 27-17 victory over Minnesota on Oct. 25. Holliday couldn't be more right, because the Broncos will most likely be underdogs Monday night at home versus Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Missed opportunities, blown assignments and poor tackling will be revealed this week in the film room, something McDaniels feels will force his players to take a good look at themselves and evaluate how good they really are. A loss would have dropped them two games back of the co-leading and idle Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals in the standings. Instead, Baltimore moved within a game of those clubs ahead of this weekend's clash in Cincinnati. "We're not going anywhere," said wide receiver Derrick Mason, who caught a 20- yard touchdown pass on Sunday. |
