| Eagles keep losing winnable games |
NFL Football |

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Eagles hoped to use a soft early schedule to build a lead in the division before a tough second half. After losing two straight games they led in the fourth quarter, the Eagles dropped out of first place in the NFC East and proved they're too inconsistent to be placed among the NFL's elite. Each of Philadelphia's four wins has come by a double-digit margin, though it took a 102-yard interception return in the final minute by Lito Sheppard to secure a 14-point victory agai |

He said he initially did not grasp the significance of booting the third-longest field goal in league history to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, but that it was beginning to sink in. Instead of celebrating with a night out on the town following the 23-21 victory, Bryant had dinner with friends before going home to spend time with his three-week-old son, Tre, who was born prematu |

| Tampa, FL (MySportsbook) - Matt Bryant hit an improbable 62-yard field goal as time expired, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-21, at Raymond James Stadium. The Bucs (2-4) blew a 17-0 lead and trailed by a point after Donovan McNabb engineered a late touchdown drive, capped by a 52-yard pass to Brian Westbrook with 33 seconds left. However, Bruce Gradkowski was able to get his team close enough for Bryant's longshot attempt in the final seconds. The 62-yarder is a team record, and |

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Even though the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed more yards passing than usual, quarterbacks shouldn't salivate at the thought of facing a once-vaunted secondary. The Eagles (4-2) are 27th against the pass, allowing an average of 237.7 yards through the air per game. They've also given up eight touchdowns and strong safety Michael Lewis has struggled to the point he was benched in the fourth quarter last Sunday. However, defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is confident a unit that includes |

The team that moves to 4-2 on Monday will be described as a foremost division contender along with the resurgent Philadelphia Eagles. The loser, even with 10 games left to play, will be at least temporarily considered little more than a third-place club. | HIA (AP) -Reggie Brown isn't the biggest, strongest or fastest receiver in the NFL. He might be the hardest worker. In just his second year in an offense that's been tough for young receivers to master, Brown has developed into a playmaker for the Philadelphia Eagles. He doesn't have several nicknames (Freddie Mitchell) or make headlines with outrageous comments and flamboyant celebrations (Terrell Owens), but he has a knack for long gains and finding the end zone. ``All I want is an opportunity to make play |

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Bruce Gradkowski impressed Andy Reid long before the Philadelphia Eagles coach began watching film of the rookie quarterback's first two starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. ``I watched him play every Thursday night last year. So, I have a pretty good feel on how he can play,'' said Reed, who catches bits and pieces of whatever football games may be airing while he's working nights at the office. PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Eagles are finding out a quick-strike offense puts their defense on the field too much. Long gains and big plays light up the scoreboard and fill highlight reels, but sometimes a grind-it-out, time-consuming drive is more beneficial. The Eagles lead the NFL in total yards (402.3 per game) and are second in points (29.8). But, they're fourth-worst in time of possession (26:55). Only Houston, Oakland and Tennessee have held the ball less. Those three teams are 2-14 combined |
