Jets open camp with disgruntled Kendall and without first-rounder Revis Headlines 07/27/2007

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -Eric Mangini's second training camp as coach of the New York Jets opened with a disgruntled veteran on the field and the team's first-round pick unsigned.

Already known for running a tough camp, Mangini already has some controversy to deal with.

``I'm sure they look forward to (camp),'' a noticeably thinner Mangini said with a grin Friday after the morning practice. ``Most kids like to go to camp and this is just our adult version of camp. We probably won't be telling any ghost s

New York, NY (MySportsbook) - New York Jets running back Curtis Martin made it official on Thursday and announced his retirement from pro football. Martin hadn't played since the 2005 season, missing all of 2006 following right knee surgery. He retires as the NFL's fourth-leading rusher with 14,101 yards. "Retirement is not an end, but a beginning," the 34-year-old Martin said in a statement. "It is not giving up a position, but more of a passing of the baton. And it's definitely not a crossroad, but a br

After retiring from the New York Jets on Thursday as the No. 4 rusher in league history, the 34-year-old Martin revealed he has his sights set on becoming an NFL owner.

``Ever since you have seen me as a player, I've been looking at myself as an owner,'' Martin said at a small, 45-minute news conference at the team's Manhattan offices, one of several stops on a whirlwind media tour.

NEW YORK (AP) -New York Jets running back Curtis Martin, fourth on the NFL's career rushing list, announced his retirement Thursday - 19 months after playing his final game.

Martin made the long-anticipated decision official - after months of rehabbing and deliberating - a day before the Jets begin training camp practices.
