HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -The thick, black wrap that covered Chad Pennington's right ankle earlier in the week was gone Friday. The New York Jets quarterback's limp was still there, but less pronounced than it had been. Pennington's injured right ankle appeared to be a lot better Friday as he dropped back and threw light passes while the Jets prepared for their game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. He had a less noticeable white wrap around the ankle and was listed as questionable on the injury report.< |

BALTIMORE (AP) -Each team made the playoffs last year. Neither is certain if its starting quarterback can play Sunday. Both began the season with a loss. The New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens have plenty in common. On a neutral field, under different circumstances, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis might deem a matchup between the teams to be a tossup. HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -Chad Pennington dropped back and threw a few light passes. That counts as significant progress for the injured New York Jets quarterback, who was still preparing Thursday to play against the Baltimore Ravens. Pennington appeared to favor his injured right ankle in practice, but made some throws during drills after not taking any snaps the previous day during the half-hour period that the media are allowed to view.
