Jets' Cotchery, Smith out; Bills' Posluszny active Headlines 10/18/2009

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -New York Jets wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery and Brad Smith are inactive for the team's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Cotchery, who has an injured left hamstring, was replaced in the starting lineup by David Clowney. Cotchery was injured in practice Oct. 8 and sat out two days before making one catch for 4 yards last Monday night at Miami. Smith injured a quadriceps muscle in the loss.

FBI investigated threats against Braylon Edwards Headlines 10/17/2009
Browns contacted the Cleveland field office about the threats shortly after the Oct. 5 incident. Wilson would not discuss the nature of the threats or who made them. He says the FBI is no longer investigating any threats.

Edwards was traded to the New York Jets two days after he allegedly punched a friend of NBA star LeBron James in the altercation.

Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz says it's not unusual for the team to communicate with local law enforcement agencies about such matters.Copyright © 20

Titans CB Finnegan won't play against Patriots NFL Football 10/17/2009
eam announced the change on Saturday. Finnegan had been listed as questionable on Friday after missing three straight days of practice.

Sunday's game will be the third straight Finnegan has missed since hurting his right hamstring in a loss at the New York Jets on Sept. 27.

Nick Harper already was out after breaking his right arm last week in a 31-9 loss to Indianapolis. Defensive back Vincent Fuller, who broke his right arm, practiced and is questionable. He has not been cleared yet for contact.

Off this week are Indianapolis, Dallas, San Francisco and Miami.

Jets' defense looks to rebound vs. bumbling Bills NFL Football 10/16/2009

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Rex Ryan fumed after the New York Jets' defense failed to stop Miami and its wildcat formation Monday night, calling the unit's performance an ``embarrassment.''

He was still angry the following day, making it clear he wasn't taking the 31-27 loss lightly.

``It's blunt-force trauma,'' Ryan said of his criticism of the team. ``We went the first four games giving up three touchdowns, but we did that in the fourth quarter alone. That's it. It is what it is. There's no way in h

Houshmandzadeh: 'Throw me the ball' NFL Football 10/16/2009

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -It's not exactly ``Give Me the Damn Ball!'' that old autobiography by Keyshawn Johnson, the outspoken former New York Jets receiver. Yet each week, Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh spews more dissatisfaction with his first season with Seattle.

``I just got to get these coaches to realize, throw me the ball,'' Houshmandzadeh said Friday, another variation on a public request he's had for weeks.

``Maybe I've said it too much,'' he said. ``I just got to show them now.''

Jets' Cotchery doubtful for Sunday NFL Football 10/16/2009
Hempstead, NY (MySportsbook) - New York Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bills due to a hamstring injury. Cotchery, who injured his hamstring last Thursday in practice, was able to play Monday night against the Dolphins. However, he caught just one pass for four yards in that contest. The sixth-year receiver didn't practice at all this week due to the injury. "I know it's been reported that J-Co's (Cotchery) already out, but that's news to me," Jets

much to outshine Quinn and may never regain the magic of 2007, when he passed for 3,787 yards with 29 touchdowns and 19 picks. The Browns are 31st in passing with 142.2 yards per game through the air. Now that Braylon Edwards has been traded to the New York Jets, Mohammed Massaquoi (11 receptions) is the team's new leader with 195 receiving yards. Massaquoi averages 17.7 yards per catch and eight of his 11 catches this season have resulted in first downs. Mike Furrey leads Cleveland with 13 receptions, whil

This is nothing new for Favre, who has made a career out of spreading the ball around, be it for 16 seasons in Green Bay or his last one with the New York Jets.

``I have no favorites,'' Favre said. ``Now do I throw over here and this guy is wide open? Absolutely. It happens all the time.''

Heck, Favre even completed a pass to himself this season. It happened last week against the Rams, when the ball wa
