Manning held out of Wednesday's practice NFL Football 10/07/2009
East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook) - New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning didn't practice Wednesday due to a heel injury. Manning was hurt in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's game against Kansas City. The former Super Bowl MVP has an injury to the plantar fascia and has soreness and swelling in the heel/arch area on the bottom of his foot. Manning completed 20-of-34 passes for 292 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 27-16 victory over the Chiefs. His last pass was a 54-ya
Raiders O-line faces tough test vs. Giants NFL Football 10/07/2009

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -Facing the New York Giants defensive line is a tough enough task for an offensive line in the best of circumstances. The banged-up Oakland Raiders have to do it this week with backups in three of the five spots.

Left tackle Mario Henderson views this as a good opportunity to ``go out there and make a name for ourselves.''

Henderson is one of two starters who will be in his usual spot this week, along with right guard Cooper Carlisle. Starting left guard Robert Gallery is out with a

score, potentially establishing himself as the club's primary power runner, but he sprained his right knee late in the victory over Philadelphia.

The Saints have a bye this week, and Bell said he'll be back on the field when New Orleans hosts the New York Giants on Oct. 18.

Thomas said he believes the Saints will be well served by having Bell back, even if it reduces his workload. Reggie Bush, who often lines up as a receiver or catches passes out of the backfield, is not likely to be affected as much.

erception was two less than his more experienced and better regarded counterpart, the Redskins' Jason Campbell, had on Sunday. Johnson, who replaced ineffective veteran Byron Leftwich in the second half of the Bucs' forgettable 24-0 home loss to the New York Giants in Week 3, finished with 106 yards and the one early score on 13-of-22 passing. "There were maybe four or five throws I wish I could have back, a couple plays I wish I could have back," said Johnson of his performance. "I've just got to try to get t
Giants' Boley out a month after knee surgery NFL Football 10/06/2009
East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook) - New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley is expected to be sidelined for a month after undergoing knee surgery on Tuesday. Boley had an arthroscopic procedure performed to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. Recovery time is approximately four weeks. The injury likely occurred during this past Sunday's game against Kansas City, although Boley did not miss a defensive snap and made five solo tackles with one sack. The knee apparently stiffened up on the pl

assel has proved his NFL value, but could only dream of possessing Kurt Warner's pinpoint accuracy. Maybe the preseason firing of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has put a curse on the team, or perhaps Haley has too much on his plate. Or maybe the New York Giants were just too good in Sunday's convincing 27-16 victory at Arrowhead Stadium. The talent levels between Kansas City and New York are obviously lopsided, but at least the Chiefs got a chance to see up close how a winning team is constructed. Cassel s
Giants LBs Boley and Kehl undergo surgery NFL Football 10/06/2009

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New York Giants are dealing with the loss of linebackers Michael Boley and Bryan Kehl, who both had surgery and will sit out this weekend against Oakland.

Boley had arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. Dr. Russell Warren expects Boley to be sidelined approximately four weeks. He played in Sunday's victory at Kansas City, but his knee stiffened during the flight home on Sunday night.

NFC East: Giants' Smith making a name of his own NFL Football 10/06/2009
(MySportsbook) - New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith may share a name and a position with the dynamic four-time Pro Bowl participant who plays for the Carolina Panthers, but that's where the similarities have generally ended during the former's first two NFL seasons. Through the first four weeks of this 2009 campaign, however, it's the accomplishments of the Giants' version that are surpassing those of his more well-known counterpart, not to mention every other pass-catcher who's currently buckling hi
Manning hopes to practice Wednesday NFL Football 10/06/2009
East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook) - New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning said Monday he'll take it day-by-day with a heel injury and hopes to practice Wednesday. Manning was hurt in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's game against Kansas City. On Monday, the former Super Bowl MVP was walking without the aid of a boot or crutches, although he had an MRI exam that showed he has an injury to the plantar fascia and has soreness and swelling in the heel/arch area on the bottom of his foot. "I don't thin
