| East Rutherford, NJ (MySportsbook) - New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and could make his season debut Sunday against the Falcons. Ross, New York's first-round pick in 2007, has yet to play this year due to a nagging hamstring injury. He had played 15 games in each of his first two years, recording three interceptions in each season. Terrell Thomas and Corey Webster have split time at cornerback in Ross' absence. |

| Flowery Branch, GA (MySportsbook) - The Atlanta Falcons will most likely be without the services of running back Michael Turner for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, but could see the return of fellow back Jerious Norwood. Atlanta head coach Mike Smith addressed the health of both on Thursday, telling the team's official website that there is still no timetable for the return of Turner, whose status following a high right ankle sprain has not been officially determined. He did add that Turner had m |

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons looked like powerhouse teams through five games. Now each team is struggling just to remain above .500. The Giants, who started 5-0, have lost four straight. The Falcons, who started 4-1, have lost three of four, leaving each team 5-4 for Sunday's game at Giants Stadium. The Falcons are four games behind undefeated New Orleans in the NFC South and already must shift their focus to the NFC wild-card race. The Giants, only a game behind |

Still, a playoff spot still seems miles away, considering that after games against Miami, the New York Jets, and Tampa Bay, Carolina closes the season against four heavyweights in New England, Minnesota, the New York Giants and New Orleans. The implication of a no-huddle offense -- or "controlled chaos," as Smith called it -- appeared to give the Panthers an edge over the Falcons. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The bye week turned into a bonanza for the New York Giants. Not only did quarterback Eli Manning and company get a chance to rest and get away from a four-game losing streak, the Giants (5-4) also got lucky. The Dallas Cowboys (6-3), Philadelphia Eagles (5-4) and Atlanta Falcons (5-4) all lost while the Giants were hunting, fishing and watching football games, and New York's playoff chances improved markedly. | test. Getting better on the road is key to Atlanta's long-term success this season, as it will have a hard time securing a home playoff game since it trails the first-place and undefeated Saints by three games in the NFC South. The Falcons visit the New York Giants next Sunday. Carolina, meanwhile, had won three of four prior to last weekend's 30-20 loss to the Saints. The Panthers actually jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a pair of touchdown runs by DeAngelo Williams -- including a 66- yarder |
