FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - The New Orleans Saints lost their home. The New England Patriots lost key players. And both have won fewer games than expected. Forced from the damaged Louisiana Superdome by Hurricane Katrina, the Saints played home games in three cities. They're 2-7. ``The whole situation has been hard, not just on us but on the people down in the Gulf Coast,'' Saints coach Jim Haslett said. ``In the long run, it will make us better people for it.'' In the short run, they go into Foxborough on |

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The New Orleans Saints are already worried about next year as they struggle to get through this Hurricane-disrupted season. Hurricane Katrina forced the Saints out of New Orleans and onto the road for the whole season. The players are weary with travel and wondering how many free agents will be interested in signing next year after hearing of the hardships. ``At this point, everyone is away from their families,'' offensive lineman Kendyl Jacox said. ``I'm sick and tired of traveling. NEW ORLEANS (AP) - If only a five-game losing streak and what looks like yet another season of futility were all the New Orleans Saints and their fans had to worry about. The displaced, travel-weary Saints finally get a rest this week. Their bye is a break from football, at least, but probably not from distractions including uprooted families, damaged property and Hurricane Katrina's devastation in the community the Saints expected to be part of when training camp opened. SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Even the usually upbeat and brash Joe Horn can't shake the effects of a New Orleans Saints season marred by the swamping of their home by Hurricane Katrina and now mired in the team's longest losing streak since 1999. Horn has struggled through a hamstring injury and is on pace for his worst season with the Saints, who enter the bye week on a six-game slide. ``I told my kids last weekend, 'Daddy's got to get away for a couple of days,' `` Horn said, explaining his plans for the week off. |
