The 30-year-old Meier is entering his ninth season in the NFL and has 19.5 sacks and 185 tackles in 123 games, all with the Jaguars. Jacksonville was 11-5 last season and clinched one of the two AFC wild card spots. They knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers on the opening weekend of the playoffs before losing to the New England Patriots in the divisional round.
Sen. Specter wants independent investigation into Spygate NFL Football 05/15/2008

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hold on, NFL. Spygate isn't over. Not if an ``incensed'' senator from Pennsylvania has anything to do with it.

Sen. Arlen Specter on Wednesday called for an independent investigation of the New England Patriots' taping of opposing coaches' signals, possibly similar to the high-profile Mitchell Report on performance enhancing drugs in baseball.

``What is necessary is an objective investigation,'' Specter said at a news conference in the Capitol. ``And this one has not been objective.''

Kraft pleased with Boston Herald's apology Headlines 05/14/2008

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft complimented the Boston Herald on Wednesday for apologizing for a story that said his team videotaped a St. Louis Rams walkthrough before the 2002 Super Bowl.

He's ``very disappointed,'' though, that the newspaper ``wrote a story that was completely false and unsubstantiated,'' Kraft said in an interview with The Associated Press.

He also said he doesn't know why former New England video assistant Matt Walsh didn't refute the story soon after i

Newspaper says Spygate story false, apologizes NFL Football 05/14/2008

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Herald apologized Wednesday for falsely reporting the New England Patriots videotaped a walkthrough by the St. Louis Rams a day before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Herald apology come a day after a meeting between NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh produced no major revelations about the team's taping procedures.

Walsh told Goodell he did not tape the walkthrough and had no knowledge that any other Patriots employees did so.

Former Pats employee Walsh meets with NFL commissioner NFL Football 05/13/2008
New York, NY (MySportsbook) - Former New England Patriots employee Matt Walsh met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for over three hours on Tuesday to discuss what he knows about the team's videotaping practices. Walsh sent the NFL eight tapes showing that the team recorded play-calling signals by coaches of five opponents over six games between 2000 and 2002. However, the tapes did not include video of the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI, which Walsh had been rumored to possess.

ence,'' the Patriots said in a statement.

They added: ``We hope that with Matt Walsh's disclosures, everyone will finally believe what we have been saying all along and emphatically stated on the day of the initial report: 'The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue.'''

The Spygate investigation began after the NFL confiscated tapes from a Patriots employee who reco

The 25-year-old was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2005, and broke in with the Bears that season. For his career, Gould is Chicago's all-time field goal percentage leader among kickers with at least 50 attempts, making 84.8 percent of his kicks (84-of-99).

Pryce, however, can't condone the fighting. Not while teams like the New England Patriots and New York Giants are using their minicamps to build on successful seasons.

``Go ahead, wrestle each other, pull each other's facemasks, yeah, great, wonderful, have fun. Now we gotta go play the Patriots. They won 18 straight football games. Th

Patriots defensive back Andrews pleads to drug offense Headlines 05/09/2008

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -New England Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews entered a plea to a marijuana possession charge, but won't face any prison time.

The 24-year-old Andrews admitted in court Friday there was enough evidence to convict him at trial, but did not plead guilty.

Lowell District Court Judge Neil Walker continued the case without a finding for a year. During that time, Andrews must speak to student athletes about the dangers of narcotics, pay a $1,000 fine and complete an NFL substance abuse pro

One lingering image from New York's 17-14 Super Bowl victory over the seemingly invincible New England Patriots was Peyton wildly cheering as his kid brother moved the ball downfield for the winning touchdown.

``I was kind of playing the game up there in the stands,'' said the 32-year-old Peyton, five years older than Eli. ``It was impressive as a quarterba
