NEXT UP: The 49ers will face arguably their toughest test of the young season when they travel to the Metrodome this Sunday to take on the defending NFC North champion and undefeated Minnesota Vikings, who ran their record to 2-0 with a 27-10 besting of hapless Detroit over the weekend. The trip will be San Francisco's first to Minneapolis since being dealt a 35-7 loss there during Week 4 of the 2003 campaign. ST. LOUIS: For a team that's garnere

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has rushed for four scores in two weeks. The Cleveland Browns? So bad for so long, the Browns are awful - still.

They dropped to 0-2 on Sunday with a 27-6 loss to the Denver Broncos, who put the Browns away much the same way the Minnesota Vikings did one week earlier in the opener. Trailing 13-6 entering the fourth quarter, Cleveland couldn't come up with a big offensive play or defensive stop and dropped its eighth consecutive game dating to last season.

DETROIT (AP) -Brett Favre has another NFL record.

Favre started Sunday for the 271st straight time in the regular season, playing for the Minnesota Vikings against the Detroit Lions. He handed off to running back Adrian Peterson after taking his first snap.

Favre sets straight-starts record NFL Football 09/20/2009
Detroit, MI (MySportsbook) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre made his 271st consecutive start on Sunday to set the NFL record. Starting against the Detroit Lions, Favre set the record previously held by defensive end Jim Marshall, who made 270 straight starts for Minnesota from 1961-79. Favre holds several other NFL records including most touchdown passes, most passing yards, most completions, most pass attempts and most interceptions thrown. Including the playoffs, he has made 293 straight starts.
More challenges for Lions defense with Vikes in town NFL Football 09/19/2009
(MySportsbook) - Last week, the Detroit Lions had the pleasure of seeing Drew Brees, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the league's best passer a year ago. This Sunday, when the Minnesota Vikings visit Ford Field, they'll be facing the current king of the NFL rushing chart, Adrian Peterson. And, as if that isn't enough, the all-time leading passer in league history, one Brett Favre, will be appearing in purple as well. Goodell said it would be unfair to suspend the two, since courts have blocked the NFL from suspending Kevin and Pat Williams of the Minnesota Vikings for the same incident. ast in the rear view mirror is that Denver will have a very good chance of moving to 2-0 on Sunday. The Browns, widely expected to be among the worst teams in the league in 2009, did little to dispel that notion in last week's 34-20 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Cleveland allowed 180 yards and three touchdowns to Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, while starting quarterback Brady Quinn was sacked five times in the debut for new Browns head coach Eric Mangini. Farwell questionable for Vikings NFL Football 09/18/2009
Eden Prairie, MN (MySportsbook) - Minnesota Vikings special teams player Heath Farwell is questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit. Farwell was limited in practice all week with a hamstring injury he suffered in last Sunday's 34-20 win against Cleveland. Also on the injury report was linebacker Erin Henderson, who will sit out the game with a calf injury, while tight end Jim Kleinsasser (hand) and guard Anthony Herrera (back) are listed as probable.
