2-4 Packers Could be Eyeing .500 NFL Football 10/24/2006
(MySportsbook) - For the first time in Brett Favre's career, the Green Bay Packers beat the Miami Dolphins in Florida. The win came after an inspired 28-point second half effort, highlighted by big touchdowns from longtime Packer cogs Donald Driver and Ahman Green. "We won the game. I think that says a lot about what type of team we can be. We hung in there and found a way to win," said Favre, who was 19-of-35 passing for 206 yards, two touchdowns, and, as indicated by the win, zero interceptions. "(Howeve
Dolphins guard James sidelined by surgery NFL Football 10/24/2006

MIAMI (AP) -Miami Dolphins guard Jeno James underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday, sidelining another starter in an offensive line that has struggled all season.

James will be evaluated week to week, the Dolphins said. He's likely to miss their next game, Nov. 5 at Chicago.

James started the first seven games at left guard. His backup on the depth chart, Joe Berger, has yet to play this season because of a foot injury.

The Dolphins have started four players at right guard, partly b

The Fins played well vs. Pittsburgh to open the season but have been in a free-fall ever since. One would have expected a few wins by now with Tennessee, Houston, Buffalo and the Jets havin
Dolphins-Packers Doesn't Project as a Classic NFL Football 10/20/2006
(MySportsbook) - Among the images that will not be evoked when the Green Bay Packers travel to meet the Miami Dolphins on Sunday: Vince Lombardi, Paul Hornung, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, Don Shula, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, and Nick Buoniconti. All of those names from the past are synonymous with good football and winning teams. The 2006 editions of the Packers and Dolphins have been synonymous with neither. The Packers' 1-4 season has marked the continuation of a downward spiral that began when

Who would have thought it?

Actually, Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt and Rutgers coach Greg Schiano did.

Wannstedt, the former Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears coach, thought so highly of Schiano that he hired him as an assistant coach with the Bears. The two have considerable respect for one another, and each predicted the other would build a strong program.

Indianapolis used the combination to produce a series of blowouts that prompted much debate whether it could become the first team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins to finish undefeated.

The quest ended in Week 14 and only after the almost-daily media blitz had taken its toll on the Colts. They also lost in their first playoff game to eventual Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh.
