AFC South: Colts still winning, but where's the offense? NFL Football 11/10/2009
at you are always looking for; to score enough to win, but we obviously had to have some help from our defense [against the Texans]. Obviously we want to do our part better and score more points." JAGUARS: Though no one seems to be talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars as a viable playoff contender, they want you to know that they're in this thing to win it. Even at 4-4 and one game out of the final wild card spot, an objective observer might be tempted to dismiss Jack Del Rio's team, given the body of work that h

Chiefs stand between Jaguars, .500 first-half NFL Football 11/07/2009
(MySportsbook) - It's not a total loss. But it's not far off. Though the Jacksonville Jaguars at times have resembled the league's worst team through seven games of the 2009 NFL schedule, they nonetheless find themselves just two games shy of the existing wild-card lead in the AFC with half a season left to right the ship. This week yields a golden opportunity. Rather than the reigning Indianapolis juggernaut in their own division, or one of the conference's other powerhouses from Foxboro, Denver or Pittsburgh,
Jags place Starks on IR; get Smith off waivers from Rams NFL Football 11/07/2009
Jacksonville, FL (MySportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars placed cornerback Scott Starks on injured reserve and were awarded safety Anthony Smith off waivers from the St. Louis Rams on Saturday. Starks will now miss the rest of the season as he is suffering from a leg injury. In his fifth year in the league, all with Jacksonville, he has 71 tackles, two interceptions and five passes defensed. Smith is a four-year veteran in the NFL and over two games with the Rams this season he had four tackles. He spent his f
Man found guilty of shooting former Jags OT Collier NFL Football 11/05/2009
Jacksonville, FL (MySportsbook) - Tyrone Hartsfield was found guilty Thursday of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier. Collier was paralyzed from the waist down and had his left leg amputated after being shot multiple times in September, 2008. Hartsfield was also found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Collier was shot early on September 2 outside an apartment complex in Jacksonville. The 28-year-old and his former Ja
Jury convicts man in Jaguars player shooting NFL Football 11/05/2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -A jury convicted a man Thursday of attempted murder in the shooting of former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier in 2008.

The six-person jury deliberated two hours and 45 minutes before returning its verdict against Tyrone Hartsfield, 33, at the end of a nine-day trial.

Hartsfield faces up to life in prison. He still faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, but it's not clear if prosecutors will pursue it.

Another Jaguars home game blacked out NFL Football 11/05/2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars have failed to sell out a home game for the fourth time this season.

Sunday's game against Kansas City (1-6) will not be televised in Jacksonville or in secondary markets that include Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Orlando and Savannah, Ga.

The Jaguars (3-4) set a franchise low for attendance (42,088) in their last home game, Oct. 18 against St. Louis. This one could break the mark.

Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver has made it clear the small-market franchise doesn'

Jaguars counting on improvement from QB Garrard NFL Football 11/05/2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars took away David Garrard's radio show early in the season, then stripped him of the authority to audible Sunday.

What's next? His starting job?

Not quite. The Jaguars (3-4) have made it clear they need Garrard to play better to have a chance to compete on a consistent basis.

Garrard has no touchdown passes, four interceptions and two fumbles in the last three games. He also has been sacked 10 times in that span behind a shaky line. The Jaguars, who have lost

Trial closing argument set in Jags player shooting NFL Football 11/05/2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Closing statements are set in the trial of a man charged with attempted murder of a Jacksonville Jaguars player, who was shot several times and paralyzed in 2008.

Ex-convict Tyrone Hartsfield took the stand in his own defense Wednesday and the 33-year-old denied any involvement in the shooting of former offensive lineman Richard Collier.

Collier was shot multiple times as he sat in his car with a teammate outside a Jacksonville apartment house. He was paralyzed, and doctors had to am

Del Rio puts Jaguars through full-pads practice NFL Football 11/04/2009

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Two days after ripping his team's defensive effort, coach Jack Del Rio had the Jacksonville Jaguars in full pads.

The Jaguars gave up a franchise-record 305 yards rushing at Tennessee in a 30-13 loss Sunday. Del Rio called the defensive effort insulting, ugly and embarrassing.

Del Rio was so upset about missed tackles that he considered having live tackling drills this week. He reconsidered, but only because he was fearful of injury.

He settled on full pads. Jacksonville (3-4) took
