n't forgotten that incident.

``First of all, I think Peyton's a great quarterback and Tony's a great coach,'' he said. ``But football is an emotional game. Basically, my whole beef is with unsportsmanlike conduct. I have the utmost respect for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jack Del Rio.''Lions

The Lions cut wide receiver Corey Bradford and filled his spot on the roster with tackle Blaine Saipaia to help their banged-up offensive line.

Bradford was signed in March as a free agent to a $7.4 million, four-year co

Redskins QB Brunell sits out with elbow injury NFL Football 09/27/2006

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -A nasty cut on the elbow kept Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell from practicing Wednesday, although he is expected to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brunell was injured when he was shoved by Thomas Johnson during a fumble return by Shantee Orr in last week's 31-15 victory over the Houston Texans. Johnson was called for a personal foul on the play, negating a touchdown.

Brunell finished the game but later needed a stitches for the cut, which was on the left-handed

Jones, others miss Jags practice NFL Football 09/21/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without starting receiver Matt Jones at Indianapolis on Sunday.

Jones, who has 11 catches for a team-high 144 yards, missed a second consecutive day of practice Thursday and remained questionable for the AFC South matchup.

Guard Chris Naeole (knee), fullback Derrick Wimbush (knee), punt returner Chad Owens (ribs), defensive end Marcellus Wiley (groin) and linebacker Pat Thomas (ankle) also missed a second straight practice.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hometown hero Mathis becomes 'rising star' with Jags NFL Football 09/21/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -When cornerback Rashean Mathis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he bought his mother a house - on the other side of town.

He knew that if she lived too close, she would come over all the time.

``I love her. She's my role model. But I just couldn't have her around every second of the day,'' Mathis said.

The crosstown move is just one example of how well Mathis plays defense.

Jags relish dominant defensive performance against champs NFL Football 09/19/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio could have given a game ball to just about anyone on defense after beating Pittsburgh.

Cornerback Rashean Mathis? He kept Hines Ward in check (two catches for 29 yards) and had two interceptions late in the fourth quarter that essentially sealed the victory.

Linebacker Mike Peterson? He had a team-high seven tackles and was primarily responsible for holding running back Willie Parker to 20 yards on 11 carries.

Steelers, Jaguars scoreless at half NFL Football 09/18/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Big Ben is back.

Wearing protective padding around his midsection, Ben Roethlisberger returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup Monday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars - barely two weeks after having surgery to remove his appendix.

The youngest starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl completed 11 of 18 passes for 85 yards through three quarters, however the Steelers trailed 3-0 after Jacksonville's Josh Scobee kicked a 31-yard field goal with 5:24 remaining in the third.

Steelers and Jaguars tied after first quarter NFL Football 09/18/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Big Ben is back.

Wearing protective padding around his midsection, Ben Roethlisberger returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup Monday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars - barely two weeks after having surgery to remove his appendix.

The youngest starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl completed 4 of 8 passes for 41 yards during a scoreless first quarter in his first regular-season action since the scary offseason motorcycle accident that nearly cost him his life.

Now, Tice and Campo are trying to rebuild their reputations - and revamp their resumes - with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.

Coach Jack Del Rio hired Campo last year, after his two-year stint as Cleveland's defensive coordinator, to run the secondary. He added Tice in the offseason to work with Jacksonville's offense.

They will square off again Monday night when the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) host the defending Super Bowl champion Steelers (1-0). The quarterbacks are sure to talk about their college days, their NFL careers and their motorcycle adventures.
