Jacksonville, FL (MySportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars placed quarterback Byron Leftwich on injured reserve Friday, ending the 26-year-old's season. Leftwich underwent surgery on his injured left ankle on November 21. He had started the first six games of the season before having to sit with the injury, and has been inactive for the last five weeks. Leftwich completed 108- of-183 passes for 1,159 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions this season. David Garrard will quarterback the Jags for the r
Dolphins Want to Reach .500, Jaguars Don't NFL Football 12/02/2006
(MySportsbook) - It's all a matter of perspective. If the Miami Dolphins exit their home field on Sunday afternoon as a 6-6 football team, there will be joy within the organization and throughout south Florida. If the Jacksonville Jaguars are 6-6 when the evening sun has made its descent, there will be much wailing, gnashing of teeth, and panic at the north end of the Sunshine State. Miami needs a win at Dolphin Stadium this week to reach the .500 mark for the first time this season, a goal that looked just abou

But undersized rookie linebacker, a fifth-round draft pick from Texas Tech, unwittingly sent Del Rio into retirement. Del Rio and Zach Thomas have been linked since.

They will reunite again Sunday when the Dolphins (5-6) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5).

``I guess I did a pretty good job mentoring,'' Del Rio said, joking.

Del Rio spent a summer and a training camp in Miami in 1996, trying to extend his 11-year career. He knew the Dolphins had drafted another middle linebacker, but few exp

Heisman Trophy candidate Darren McFadden has rushed for 1,485 yards, breaking the school record set by Hill in '95.

``In my opinion, McFadden should win the Heisman this year,'' said Jones, now a receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars. ``You look at Arkansas, and without McFadden, there's no way in the world they win 10 games. They might not even be a .500 team without McFadden.''

But with him, Arkansas had a slim shot at a national title until last week's loss.

ned under coach Houston Nutt. Alabama went 6-2 in the SEC but was ineligible for the championship, and Arkansas emerged from a three-way tie with Auburn and LSU at 5-3.

The Razorbacks lost 30-3 to Georgia.

``They were just better than us,'' said Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Matt Jones, Arkansas' quarterback in '02. ``They had home-field advantage. They were in Atlanta.''

This year, the Razorbacks (10-2, 7-1) are eager to show they finally belong among the SEC's elite. Arkansas won seven SEC games for the fir

Del Rio uninterested in Alabama job NFL Football 11/29/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio squashed rumors and radio reports mentioning him as a candidate for Alabama's head coaching job.

``Let me put it to bed,'' Del Rio said Wednesday. ``I'm very happy with the work that we have here in Jacksonville. I love working for (owner) Wayne Weaver and I'm not interested.''

Del Rio, who played college football at Southern California, spent 11 seasons in the NFL and played with four teams before starting his coaching career. He is in his fou

Bills RB McGahee returns to lineup NFL Football 11/26/2006

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Bills running back Willis McGahee was back in the lineup when Buffalo hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

McGahee missed the past two games after breaking three ribs in Buffalo's win over Green Bay on Nov. 5. He practiced all this week, but was listed as questionable coming into the game.

McGahee, Buffalo's first-round draft pick in 2003, leads the Bills with 579 yards rushing. Backup running back Anthony Thomas accumulated 165 yards in the two games he replaced McGahee, inclu
