Jags hire Koetter as offensive coordinator NFL Football 01/08/2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars hired former Arizona State coach Dirk Koetter as their offensive coordinator Monday, giving them a third different play-caller in five seasons under coach Jack Del Rio.

Koetter replaces Carl Smith, who was one of five assistants fired last week after the Jaguars dropped three in a row to end the season, finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs for the sixth time in seven years.

Del Rio also hired Joe DeCamillis as special teams coordinator Monday. DeCamillis repl

Chiefs make surprising run to playoffs NFL Football 01/03/2007
't admit it now, many Chiefs fans had to be preparing for the offseason heading into last weekend. But, as the old English proverb says, "There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip." Kansas City knew it had a very good chance against the road-challenged Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, but weren't so sure about the other half of the playoff equation. If the Chiefs did beat the Jags, and the Patriots and Steelers could take down the Titans and Bengals, respectively, could the 6-9 San Francisco 49ers possibly go into De
Inconsistent Jags end disappointing season NFL Football 01/03/2007
(MySportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars' season featured a few impressive wins, but was also filled with some head-scratching losses that ultimately quashed the team's playoff dreams. The Jaguars finished 8-8 after dropping their last three games of the season. Those late-season setbacks came on the heels of a 44-17 romp over the Indianapolis Colts on December 10, when Jacksonville's postseason picture was considerably rosier. Jacksonville had one last chance to prove it belonged in the playoffs this past Sund

CONCERNS The first game on the road to Miami is against a surprise opponent -- the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were a longshot to make the postseason party heading into the final weekend of the season, but they took care of business and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, plus got all the help they needed -- and it was quite a bit -- to earn a playoff spot. "It's going to be a tough challenge, but I think our guys are going to be looking forward to it and excited about it," Dungy said Monday. "It's probably going to
