SAN FRANCISCO: Alex Smith's return to the starting lineup was the primary storyline concerning the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, but both the embattled quarterback and his teammates will likely best remember the 18-14 loss as another that got away. The 49ers grabbed an early lead on running back Frank Gore's 64-yard touchdown burst less than four minutes into the game and re |

The 1991 squad also went 7-0, and New Orleans joins the Indianapolis Colts as the only two undefeated teams left in the NFL this season. While the Saints offense still did its thing, accounting for four touchdowns in the win, there is little doubt that they are able to shake off bad play so easily because of the defense. T |

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -The Indianapolis Colts can look almost any place these days and hear the calls of perfection. They are 7-0 for the fourth time in five years. They are the AFC's last remaining unbeaten team. Jim Caldwell is the first rookie head coach since the 1970 merger to open his career with seven straight wins. The Colts have extended their franchise-record winning streak to 16 - the equivalent of a perfect season. They know it's a false image. With a stagnant ground game, a softer-than-usual sched |

COLTS: The mark of a good team is the ability to win a game in which you didn't play your best. The Indianapolis Colts proved they were a good team on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. But you already knew that. The Colts put up their fewest points since Week 1 in the 18-14 victory, and had consistent trouble finishing off drives. Four Matt Stover field goals |
