James Jones inks deal with Heat NBA Basketball 07/09/2008
Miami, FL (MySportsbook) - The Miami Heat signed guard/forward James Jones on Wednesday. Jones, a local Miami product, played in 58 games for Portland last season when he averaged 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds. The five-year veteran has also suited up for the Phoenix Suns after being drafted with the 49th selection of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers.

Indianapolis, IN (MySportsbook) - The Toronto Raptors have reportedly agreed in principle to acquire six-time All-Star forward Jermaine O'Neal from the Indiana Pacers. The deal was reported by several media sources, including the Indianapolis Star, on the eve of the NBA Draft. The newspaper reports the Pacers would get point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic, an unnamed player, and the rights to Toronto's 17th pick in Thursday night's draft. The deal is contingent on players passing physicals. O'Nea

Woods beat out former Grambling State head coach Dr. Lacey Reynolds and Harvey Wardell, an assistant at Tougaloo, for the job. Woods, who ranks fifth on UK's all-time assist list with 482, had his No. 11 retired by the school and was inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame as a charter member. After graduating from Kentucky in 1992, Woods also played for the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
Heat waive F Johnson NBA Basketball 06/23/2008
Miami, FL (MySportsbook) - The Miami Heat waived forward Alexander Johnson on Monday. Johnson, 25, was signed by the Heat in August 2007, appearing in 43 games during their league-worst 15-67 campaign. The Florida State product averaged 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Originally selected with the 45th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, Johnson's rights were first traded to Portland and then to Memphis, where he logged 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per outing for the 2006-07 season.
Indiana Pacers 2008 Draft Preview NBA Basketball 06/20/2008
(MySportsbook) - The Indiana Pacers need help in the backcourt and should be able to address that need with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft. Eric Gordon of Indiana and UCLA's Russell Westbrook would work if one of them is available for the Pacers to select. However, there is a good chance both could be gone as their stock has risen. DJ Augustin of Texas may be the choice if Indiana decides to go the point guard rout. Thirty-year-old forward Jermaine O'Neal did not opt out of
