Tough Texans should test unbeaten Colts NFL Football 11/07/2009

Once.

That's how many times the Houston Texans have beaten the Colts. When the Texans visit Indianapolis on Sunday, they will carry a 1-13 mark against the Colts since Houston joined the NFL as its most recent expansion team in 2002.

Oddly, Houston's 27-24 home victory came in 2006, the season the Colts took the Super Bowl.

Overall in the series, the Colts have outscored the Texans 432-253. Indy (7-0) is also the only unbeaten team remaining in the AFC - New Orleans, which hosts Carolina on Sunday, i

dium. Turn back the clock to 2004, when then-No. 17 Fresno State showed up, fresh off victories over Washington and Kansas State and dreaming of crashing the BCS party.

The Bulldogs shattered those hopes on the legs of Ryan Moats. Now of the NFL's Houston Texans, Moats rolled for 236 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-21 victory.

For coach Derek Dooley, the chance for the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-3) to play spoiler again is just plain fun.

``We've been thinking about it all season,'' said Dooley, whose team has

Johnson, Cushing, Ginn take home AFC weekly honors NFL Football 11/04/2009
New York, NY (MySportsbook) - Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing and Miami Dolphins kick returner Ted Ginn, Jr. have been selected as the AFC's top players for Week 8 of the NFL season. Johnson got the offensive award as he set a franchise record in rushing yards in a single game, with 228 in a 30-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He carried the ball 24 times and had touchdown runs of 52 and 89 yards to help the Titans (1-6) to their first win of the se
AFC South: Despite win, fragile Texans lose big NFL Football 11/03/2009
(MySportsbook) - Following a theme that has prevailed throughout their eight- year history, the Houston Texans simply refuse to do things the easy way. On a day in which they gutted out a 31-10 road victory over a hard-nosed Buffalo Bills team to finish the first half of a season above .500 for the first time ever, the Texans (5-3) had their enthusiasm tempered by a couple of disconcerting elements. The first was the continued plague befalling Steve Slaton. The Texans had made Slaton's fumbling issues a po

turnaround for the team. Instead, it looks the clouds contained acid rain for Dick Jauron's squad. After notching road wins on back-to-back weeks for the first time since 2004, Buffalo needed only to return home with a victory over the inconsistent Houston Texans in order to get back to .500 for the first time since Week 2. But the Bills (3-5) could not hang onto a 10-9 lead as the fourth-quarter began, surrendering 22 final-frame points in a 31-10 loss that had the faithful in Western New York once again qu
Texans TE Daniels to miss rest of season NFL Football 11/02/2009
Houston, TX (MySportsbook) - Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Daniels was hurt during Sunday's win over Buffalo while running a pass route and underwent tests Monday. Daniels will undergo season-ending surgery in about two weeks when the swelling in his knee goes down. Daniels, a Pro Bowl selection last season, has helped the Texans to a 5-3 record. He leads the Texans with five touchdown receptions t
Houston heads to Indy with first 5-3 record NFL Football 11/02/2009

HOUSTON (AP) -The Houston Texans have won three straight and have their best record in franchise history at 5-3.

The season is half over and they remain firmly in the playoff hunt. But the road gets tougher as they face undefeated AFC South rival Indianapolis, a team they've beaten only once. Ever.

``Every game is going to get bigger and bigger every week,'' said Andre Johnson, in his seventh season in Houston. ``We have the Colts on the road and that is going to be the biggest game of our life.''

Texans TE Daniels fears knee injury season-ending NFL Football 11/01/2009

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Walking on crutches and with his head hung low, Owen Daniels feared his season might be over after the Houston Texans' star tight end hurt his right knee on Sunday.

``I'm concerned,'' Daniels said following a 31-10 victory. ``It doesn't feel good.''

Daniels, who entered the game leading NFL tight ends with 497 yards receiving, said he's scheduled to have tests on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

Coach Gary Kubiak didn't sound optimistic when discussing the play
