Foster scores twice as Texans beat Saints NFL Football 08/20/2011
Houston, TX (MySportsbook) - Arian Foster rushed five times for 47 yards and two touchdowns in the Houston Texans' 27-14 preseason victory over the New Orleans Saints. Ben Tate ran nine times for 95 yards and a score against the Saints' oft- porous run defense. Foster capped the Texan's seven-play, 72-yard opening drive with a two-yard touchdown run. Andre Johnson reeled in a 48-yard pass from Matt Schaub to begin Houston's second possession and Foster ended it with a 28-yard touchdown run. Schaub played u

eos that popped up in recent days. Many players denied knowing him whatsoever, even after they were accused by Shapiro of taking his money and gifts.

``I don't know about everybody else. I can only speak for myself,'' said one of those implicated, Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson. ``I don't really know what it is he alluded to.''

Shapiro's lifestyle began unraveling a couple years ago, when the money started running dry and investors began thinking they'd been had. He never paid for the lounge. He st

eam for their star power, big-market appeal and the bombastic shtick of ever-quotable head coach Rex Ryan, it may have been easy to forget there was another team also competing in the game. And a pretty good one, by the way. For three years now, the Houston Texans have been hailed as an up-and-comer, a team seemingly on the cusp of escaping out of the wallows of mediocrity that it's been engulfed in throughout nine seasons of existence. The refrain has been a familiar one for the NFL's youngest franchise: jus

The Nebraska product was taken in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1998 draft and spent his first two pro seasons there before moving on to Wisconsin. Green then spent two years (2007-08) with the Houston Texans before returning to the Packers for his final NFL campaign two years ago. "My whole time here in Green Bay was awesome," said Green. "I was given a great opportunity to come back here. That took some of the weight off my shoulders for that decision.

Earlier in the night, the Panthers placed defensive tackle Ron Edwards on injured reserve and replaced him with free agent defensive tackle DelJuan Robinson, who played 27 games with three starts in three seasons with the Houston Texans.

Edwards, who received a three-year, $8.5 million contract extension, tore his triceps in his first practice with the team Aug. 4. It was expected at the time the Panthers would place him on injured reserve.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Pre

d them that if I did come to Wisconsin, the reason I would come here is to play hard every day and be part of something special.''

On defense, the Badgers will have to replace five starters: Defensive end J.J. Watt, a first-round draft pick of the Houston Texans, plus linebackers Blake Sorensen and Culmer St. Jean, cornerback Niles Brinkley and safety Jay Valai.

They also lost defensive coordinator Dave Doeren, who took the head coaching job at Northern Illinois. Wisconsin will play Northern Illinois at S

Texans donating auction proceeds to family NFL Football 08/09/2011

HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Texans will donate the proceeds from their first game-day auction to support three children who were orphaned and seriously injured in a car accident last month.

The Texans play the New York Jets on Aug. 15. The team's foundation operates an auction during each home game, and the money raised will be earmarked to help 9-year-old Peter, 8-year-old Aaron and 6-year-old Willa Berry.

The children's parents, Joshua and Robin, were killed in a collision as the family was returning

Dobbins signs with Houston NFL Football 08/07/2011
Houston, TX (MySportsbook) - The Houston Texans made it official Sunday and signed linebacker Tim Dobbins. Terms of the deal, which was first revealed Saturday by Dobbins' agent, were not disclosed. Dobbins spent last season, his fifth in the NFL, with the Miami Dolphins. In 16 games, including six starts, he posted 43 tackles and one sack. However, the Dolphins cut him on August 1. The Iowa State product played his first four years with San Diego, which selected him in the fifth round of the 2006 draft. I
Texans can only improve in secondary NFL Football 08/07/2011

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans defensive backs coach Vance Joseph tries to find something positive on every practice snap, even if one of his players is beaten on a route.

Joseph may have the biggest challenge of any position coach on the staff - fixing a secondary that ranked as the league's worst in 2010.

The Texans allowed 267.5 yards passing per game and 33 touchdown passes last season. They picked up free agents Johnathan Joseph and Danieal Manning to bring experience and leadership to a group that

Foster, Johnson among sidelined Texans NFL Football 08/06/2011

HOUSTON (AP) - A week into training camp, some of the Houston Texans' stars are already ailing.

Running back Arian Foster (hamstring), receiver Andre Johnson (dislocated finger) and linebacker Brian Cushing (knee) sat out the morning practice on Saturday.

Johnson hurt his left index finger on Tuesday, the Texans' second day of practice. Foster pulled his left hamstring on Friday, and Cushing has been out all week while recovering from offseason knee surgery.

Coach Gary Kubiak says Johnson may return
